He is housebroken and knows basic commands such as sit, stay, down, leave it, off, and "no." He is currently working on his leash manners and learning to heel. Simba came to us as a surrender from the Howard County Animal Shelter.During his time in foster care, Simba has visited vet offices, wineries, parks, and farmers' markets. He is known for his soft eyes and gentle nature, getting along well with other dogs and enjoying car rides. While he dislikes being crated and occasionally barks at other dogs on walks, he is learning to stay quiet.While other dogs might be active and barking, Simba is often found peacefully napping in the grass. He enjoys playing with balls or squeaky toys and would do well with a compatible canine companion. Simba will thrive in a structured, loving, and patient home. He is wonderfully well-behaved in the home, no counter surfing, no begging, and no barking when visitors arrive. He eats well without any signs of food guarding and is both house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. He loves to relax near his people and is a loyal companion who feels most at ease when they’re home. Outdoors, he enjoys romping, exploring, and even playing fetch, happily returning the ball, but due to his curiosity and agility, he will need a securely fenced yard with a tall fence. While he walks nicely on a leash when no other dogs are around, he would benefit from continued training to improve his focus when passing other dogs. Benz is a sweet boy. He turned 10 in February. We are looking for a loving family that will love him and give him affection and attention. The only reason we are looking to rehome him is because we are moving back to Europe. We don't want to take him with us due to his age and he has DCM. He currently takes 3 medications for this. They are pills that we just put in his food. He has responded very well to his treatment. You would never know that he even has a heart condition. We would need his new family to be able to continue giving him medication. He loves to chew on his bone, go for walks and just lounge around. Please consider making this sweet boy an addition to your family.
