Story
Hi, I’m Teddy.
Life’s been a bit of a rollercoaster in my three short years, but I haven’t given up hope that there’s someone out there who will give me the calm, loving home I’ve been waiting for.
I was found running the streets of Milwaukee in February. No one came for me during my stray hold, so I was adopted—but returned three weeks later after I was startled awake by a young child running past me. I reacted out of fear, and it became clear I needed a quieter, more predictable home. Since then, I’ve been staying in a Wellness Boarding program where I’ve had the chance to decompress, build trust, and start believing the world isn’t such a scary place.
I’m a sweet, sensitive soul who takes a little time to warm up—but once I do, I form deep, loving bonds. I may have a touch of “stranger danger” at first, but with slow, thoughtful introductions and consistency, I’ll show you just how affectionate, playful, and eager to please I really am.
I’m looking for a foster, foster-to-adopt, or ideally, a forever home that’s quiet and calm—no apartments or busy subdivisions for me, please. I’d love to be someone’s one and only best friend, with no other pets in the house. I’ll thrive in a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids who understand I may need a little time and space to settle in. In return, I promise to shower you with loyalty, love, and lots of personality.
Like many dogs who’ve been through upheaval, I can sometimes get reactive—especially on walks or in the car when I see new dogs or unfamiliar people. I might bark or lunge, but I’m working on it with positive reinforcement, and I’m making great progress. My rescue friends are committed to helping me succeed and will provide training support to make sure we all thrive together.
I also appreciate a little extra patience during vet visits or routine care, but once I feel safe, I shine. I’ve got a big heart, a loyal spirit, and so much love to give. I just need someone who sees past my rough start and believes in the great dog I’m becoming.
If you’re kind, patient, and ready for a devoted companion to share your life with, I might be the perfect match for you.
Let’s find out—together.
