Shadow is a 2-year-old Great Dane mix who came to us as a shelter transfer, so we don’t have background information on his past. He’s ready for a fresh start and a home to call his own. If you’re looking to welcome a large-breed dog into your life and have the space and commitment for one, Shadow could be a great fit.

Milo

Great Dane German Shepherd Dog

Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)

Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Characteristics: Milo has shown to be a very sweet, lazy boy. If he had it his way, he'd be laying in the sun all day, preferably with his dog besties. We believe his is a Great Dane mix due to his long face and body, as well as the tone of his bark. He is socialized with both people and dogs, but can be uneasy meeting dogs who are nervous or standoffish. Background: Milo came to us as a shelter bypass dog from PACC, at only six months old. His background is unknown, but shows some characteristics of being taken from the litter too early. He has been with us for a year and a half now, waiting for his forever home. Current progress: Milo has been around a lot of other dogs at Como, but has a hard time adjusting to the constant stimulus. He has undergone basic obedience training (sit, stay, no), and will wait for his food very politely. He is crate trained, and potty trained. Cat tested: Upon request Kids: Older children, young children upon request On leash: Can pull, very receptive to training. Behavior concerns: Milo is food excitable, different to resource guarding, but still should be separated from other dogs in the home when feeding. He is also very puppy-like in his play language, likely due to being separated from the litter too early. He can be a little nippy when excited but has not shown intent to escalate the behavior. Training receptiveness: Very high food drive, high toy drive. Can be a bit puppy-like during play. When you adopt a dog from Como Animal Works, you are provided free boarding as a courtesy and comfort of the dog being familiar with our facility. We also provide free training sessions on-site or at the home while the dog is transitioning to home life. Our goal is to help keep dogs out of overcrowded shelters and provide much needed dog socialization during that time.

Story
URGENT – Tucson, AZ – Bonded Pair of Bull Mastiffs Need Rural Home TODAY I have two 4-year-old Bull Mastiffs that MUST stay together. They are deeply bonded and have been raised side-by-side their entire lives. These dogs were originally farm dogs and are NOT adjusting to apartment life. They are high-energy, large, and need space, freedom, and a purpose. Keeping them confined is causing stress behaviors, and it’s not fair to them. Ideal Home: • Land / acreage / ranch (NOT apartment or city living) • Experience with large breeds • Someone who understands working or guardian-type dogs About Them: • 4 years old • Bonded pair – cannot be separated • Not aggressive – just stressed in confinement • Thrive outdoors with space to move I am trying to do right by them and place them somewhere they can actually live the life they’re meant for. Located in Tucson I can transport TODAY to the right home Serious inquiries only. Please be prepared to tell me about your property.

Story
Please meet Melman fka Koko! A8407642.5 year old neutered male, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. This sweet gentle giant is looking for his next foster or foster to adopt home. Named after the goofy, lengthy, wobbly giraffe, Melman is a big boy who is recovering from two hip surgeries. While he is a little wobbly, he gets around just fine on his own and needs a place to continue rehabilitation, gain weight, and strength. Melman takes pain medications and joint supplements nicely and is very food motivated! Melman is a very big Velcro dog who wants to be his humans’s very best friend, a good snuggle and pets on the couch is his idea of the best day ever. Melman has done well in the foster home with both dogs and cats. He does not mind cats at all and would be a very good addition to a home with feline friends! Melman can live with other dogs, but would strive in a home with calm, submissive dogs or where he can have at least one human who can give him the spotlight and all the love. Melman walks well on a leash, has been friendly with all humans, has previously done well with children but we would recommend older children who can respect his recovery. He is house trained. He still needs some work on crate training. Melman has weekly physical therapy and occasional vet visits that at this time are still covered by PACC, along with his current medications. Melman does not do well in the shelter so we would love to get him into his next home by Christmas to avoid going back. Please reach out to PACC.MedicalFoster@pima.gov for more information or to schedule a meet and greet.
