Story
Hi, I'm Sammy, a 5-year-old tan and white Great Dane mix with a wiggle butt that never stops! 🐾 I'm a gentle giant at 63 pounds who absolutely loves to cuddle — yes, I think I'm a lap dog, and I'm spayed and ready to join your family. I know basic commands, I'm toy motivated (especially rubber toys, soft toys, and tennis balls), and I have a bonded friend here at the shelter who'd love to come home with me, my old pal Custard. 💕 My adoption fee is $150, and I'm waiting for adopters who can give me all the affection and playtime this energetic sweetie deserves! 🎾

Story
🐾❤️ MEET VIGGO — A GENTLE GIANT FIGHTING FOR HIS SECOND CHANCE ❤️🐾 Viggo is a beautiful Great Dane who recently joined the Maxx & Me family after arriving at Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center in heartbreaking condition. He was severely emaciated, anemic, suffering from infected ears, and tested high heartworm positive. At one point, Viggo became so critically ill that he needed a blood transfusion and came dangerously close to losing his life. His body tells the story of prolonged neglect. His lower front teeth are broken, reportedly from eating rocks, and his right ear bears scars from a previous hematoma caused by severe head shaking. Despite everything he has endured, Viggo is still here—and he is still fighting. Thankfully, we also received some encouraging news. His radiology report showed no signs of cancer in his lungs or injured toe. The changes seen in his lungs are believed to be connected to his heartworm disease, and the issue with his toe appears to be from an old injury. After so much uncertainty, we are incredibly grateful for this bit of good news. Viggo is now safe with his foster, Sharon, who stepped up without hesitation to get him out of the shelter and directly to North Bay Animal Hospital. Sharon is a longtime Maxx & Me adopter and has opened her heart and home once again to a dog in desperate need. We are so thankful for her. Viggo’s road to recovery will be long. He needs continued veterinary care, proper nutrition, treatment for his heartworms, and time to regain his strength. Most of all, he needs to learn that he will never again have to struggle simply to survive. We will share more about Viggo’s personality as he settles into his foster home, along with the freedom photos everyone is waiting to see. For now, he is resting, receiving care, and finally surrounded by people who believe his life is worth saving. Viggo needs our entire village. ❤️ Donations will help cover his emergency care, testing, heartworm treatment, medications, food, and ongoing recovery. 🏡 A committed foster or future adopter will eventually give this gentle giant the safe and loving life he has always deserved. 📣 Sharing Viggo’s story helps us reach the people who can make that future possible. Viggo has already survived more than any dog should. Now it is our turn to show him that his hardest days are behind him. Welcome to Maxx & Me, sweet Viggo. You are safe now. 🐾

Story
We adopted Aamco in January 2025 after he was thrown out of a moving vehicle on Dale Mabry. He has been a good and loving dog and has been great with my kids. We think he is 2 1/2 or 3 but we are not sure. He is a big dog and requires a lot of space and attention which unfortunately I can not provide for him. He is a very sweet dog and I want him to have what he needs.

Story
Stanley is a 77lb, 2 year old, fun loving, big puppy. He came to us as an owner surrender in 2022. He is dog friendly and loves his foster siblings. He is healthy, UTD, Neutered, crate trained and house broken. The wishlist: A family that will keep up his professional training and A fully fenced in yard. Potentially another dog, if not in the home then maybe one added later. Patience. Stanley is smart and wants to please. He is fun, happy, loves people and playing with toys. He has a great foundation and has gone through both basic training and basic training urban with Bayshore Dog Training. He knows sit, down, place, come, heel.
