Walker is a beautiful black Great Dane who is looking for a very special home that understands big dogs with big needs.Walker was recently surrendered after struggling to coexist with some of the other animals in his previous home. He is still a young dog and has plenty of growing and learning left to do, especially when it comes to basic training and manners. Walker can be uneasy on leash and truly does not realize just how large he is, which can make him a bit overwhelming at times without proper guidance.Because of this, Walker is not a good fit for a home with cats or other small animals. He is also very selective with other male dogs and would do best either as the only pet or in a home with a compatible large female dog. Due to his size and lack of awareness of his own strength, homes with small children or elderly individuals would not be ideal.True to his breed, Walker has a sweet and gentle disposition and forms strong bonds with his people. He will thrive in a home that can provide structure, consistency, and clear boundaries. While Great Dane experience is preferred, it is not required. What matters most is a commitment to training and an understanding that Great Danes are incredible dogs, but not the right fit for every household.Walker is officially accepting adoption applications and is patiently waiting for the right home to help him grow into the confident, well-mannered companion he has the potential to be.

Hello handsome! Meet Rip!Rip is an absolute showstopper of a Great Dane! He recently came to FDHS after his previous owner could no longer care for him. Even with all the changes he’s been through, Rip has been settling in with a calm, easygoing attitude that’s made him a fast favorite among staff.This big guy has experience living with kids, cats and other dogs. However, in his previous home he did not get along with male dogs, so we’re keeping that in mind as we look for the right fit. We’re hopeful neutering may help ease some of that tension over time, but for now, a home without male dogs will be the safest and most comfortable option for him. Around people, Rip has been nothing but sweet. He enjoys attention, handles well for staff and walks nicely on leash for a dog his size.Rip is incredibly lovable, but we always remind potential adopters that Great Danes come with their own set of unique needs. They’re loyal, goofy and wonderful companions, but they require space, structure, resources and someone who understands life with a giant breed. A little research goes a long way in making sure he finds a forever home perfect for himIf you’re a fan of gentle giants, have done your Dane homework and are ready to share your home (and your couch) with a seriously handsome companion, Rip is ready for his happily ever after!

GD Mix Gerry came to us from a kill shelter in Kentucky where he ended up by no fault of his own. This is a nice, friendly boy who is good with people & other dogs. He is very sweet & happy but would benefit from some basic obedience and confidence building. His approx. birth date is 07/04/24 and he currently weighs 16.8#.He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. His adoption donation is $400 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. Shedinja came to us from a kill shelter in Arkansas where she ended up by no fault of her own. This girl is sweet, but reserved. She is good with other dogs and kids and tested fine with cats. Her approx. birth date is 05/05/15 and she weighs 94# full grown. This girl was adopted out for 6 years and recently returned when her adopted became too ill to care for her. She has been vet. checked, spayed,  micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. She was also heart worm negative.Her adoption donation is $100 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. There is a 3% processing fee when using a debit/credit card. His approx. birth date is 01/01/21 and he currently weighs 115#.He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. He is heart worm & tick born illlness negative. He also  had a dental, we had a nipple removed because it had gotten chapped from laying on surfaces and we had an old scar on his back reworked to make the skin lay down better. His adoption donation is $550 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card.
