Story
Hamantha is a resilient, affectionate girl who has been through more than most dogs her age—and she’s still showing up every day with a gentle heart and a strong desire to connect with her people. She is currently recovering in a foster home, where she continues to heal and adjust with dedicated support.
From the moment she arrived, Hamantha has shown herself to be tolerant, people-oriented, and eager for reassurance. While she can be timid in new or stressful situations, she allows handling, seeks interaction, and bonds closely with her caregivers. She thrives when she feels secure and supported.
Medical & Special Care Needs
Hamantha has a significant orthopedic history related to an old injury to her right hip. Imaging revealed severe arthritis with destruction of the hip socket, likely caused by trauma long before she came into our care. Due to the extent of the injury, Hamantha required a hind leg amputation, along with spay and entropion correction surgery. She is still in recovery and remains under close veterinary supervision.
As a tripod, Hamantha may always have some degree of mobility difference and will benefit from:
Staying lean and fit
A home mindful of mobility (limited stairs and jumping)
Hamantha is:
✅ Good with dogs
✅ Cat tolerant (calm and respectful)
✅ Good with kids (with appropriate supervision)
She does experience significant separation anxiety and forms strong attachments to her people. When left alone, she may panic, vocalize, or attempt to escape confinement. Because of this, she is seeking:
An adopter who is home often or able to work on gradual alone-time training
A patient, experienced home willing to continue behavior support and medication management as needed
Someone who understands that progress will take time, consistency, and compassion
She is also still working on house-training consistency, particularly with urination, and does best with a structured routine and positive reinforcement.
Ideal Home
Hamantha would thrive in a calm, structured home with:
-A committed adopter who understands both medical and behavioral needs
-Willingness to continue training, veterinary care, and anxiety management
-A secure environment where she feels safe, supported, and loved
Hamantha has already shown incredible resilience and effort, even when things are hard. With the right home, she has the potential to blossom into a deeply loyal and loving companion.
If you’re looking for a dog who will bond closely, appreciate patience, and return kindness tenfold, Hamantha may be the one for you!
