Story
Beethoven is a gentle, sensitive boy with a huge heart who has been waiting far too long for his forever home. Found in the forest in Williams with his siblings, Beethoven missed out on early socialization due to illness and quarantine. Because of this, he can be shy with new people at first - but once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines. One of Beethoven’s greatest joys is other dogs. He absolutely loves them and thrives with a calm, confident canine companion to help show him the ropes. He’s even gone home with staff and volunteers for overnight stays and done wonderfully: he sleeps quietly in a crate, has had no accidents indoors (though he’s still learning since he’s never lived in a home), and has been respectful of the cats he’s met.Beethoven is a large dog, around 70 pounds and still needing to gain some weight. He enjoys walks and short runs and has moderate exercise needs. He can pull on leash in new environments when he’s nervous, so he’ll need a strong, patient handler while he builds confidence and leash skills. The good news? Beethoven is very food motivated, making training much easier. He enjoys toys and safe chews like Nylabones and hasn`t tried to ingest them. Beethoven does well with people of all ages, but very young children may make him nervous, so a home with older kids who understand giving him space would be ideal.Beethoven has at the shelter for over a year and is waiting for someone to take a chance on him. With patience, training, and a loving home - especially one with another dog - he has so much potential to be an incredible companion. Bring your family and pup(s) to meet him and see just how special he is.

Story
Butter is looking for a loving home! Things the team knows about me: I’m not fully potty-trained yet, but I’m almost there. I’ve previously lived with dogs and we played with each other! I’m full of puppy energy and ready to learn! Training is up to my new family, and I’m excited to master things like potty training, basic commands, and socializing. I can’t wait to grow and learn with you! Contact his foster at (928) 300-5089 to set up a meet and greet or ask additional questions! Adopting with High Country Humane means your new pet is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped (we register it for free!). Each adoption also includes a free health exam. Please bring a leash and collar with you or plan to purchase them here. We can’t wait to help you meet your new furry friend!

Story
Thor is the God of Thunder from Marvel legends where I use my abilities to protect Asgard and earth. But here in Sedona I’m just a two-and-a-half-year-old Great Pyrenees dog looking for a home and some new friends to enjoy adventures. I am a fit and gorgeous 107 pounds of pure and loving happiness but it’s tough spending over 20 hours a day in a kennel. I am funny and smart too, know ‘sit’, stay’ and I’m learning even more manners. Part of me feels like a lap dog despite my size because I have the playfulness and heart of a puppy. I love belly rubs and squeaky toys. I am incredibly friendly, really enjoy the company of people and am always ready to lean in for a cuddle or a sloppy kiss. I am especially good at making people around me smile!Since I am a young dog, I am strong on a leash and need someone who can teach me about restraint and self-control. I dream of one day living somewhere with running room where no one cares about my leash skills. You’ll want to chat with my care team about a meet and greet with a dog you already have at home because of my size.I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and potty trained.Let’s plan some marvelous and beautiful Thor adventures of our own, it all starts with you contacting the folks at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays and making an appointment to meet me. Bring some treats when you come please!
