Story
Say hello to Lola, a Great Pyrenees, born appx April 2020.  She is friendly with new people, dogs and kids of all ages.  She is looking for a family who has time to take her on daily walks and likes to snuggle!  Lola likes to be active and needs a fenced yard with room to roam.  She knows some commands.  Keep an eye on your front door - an open door is an invitation to take off and explore on her own.  Apply to adopt Lola today! The suggested adoption donation for Lola is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Bruno Nevada (neutered male)1 year (dob 12/30/22) - Pyrenees mix (60lbs)Adopted as a puppy and recently returned due to food guarding around small childrenDescribed as active - affectionate - playfulLived inside - High energyCons: Barks excessively - Jumps on people - Escape artist - Food guarding - Will roam if ablePros: Housebroken - Crate trained - Rides in car - Playful - Lap LoverKnows sit and lay downEnjoys bones, running and balls (but doesn't like to give back)Good w/ women, menFair w/ children, other dogs and catsFrom foster:Bruno is working on his stay, waiting at doors (sliding glass doors and kennel door), down and leash training. He's a quick learner but he's stubborn and doesn't listen all the time. We just started leash training and I invested in a gentle leader/head collar which he responds well to and helps with his pulling. He's also doing much better with jumping on people he still jumps but rarely makes contact. He does bark outside but if you bring him in he quiets down.Bruno is fantastic at sit and has a great recall most of the time, he is kennel trained and house broken, he has great house manners he waits for permission on furniture, with a chew toy he is more than happy to lay down and chew on it. He's good for nail trims, baths and blow drys and LOVES to be brushed he also enjoys car rides. He's good with other dogs both males and females, large and small dogs. He's okay with cats he does better with calm cats that aren't scared of dogs but should be supervised at all times.Bruno has a manageable kid of energy a walk or two or fetch in the yard and he's good for the rest of the day, Bruno dose not like to be outside alone so a doggy friend or a person outside with him or else he will bark and cry. Bruno will require a taller fence or need to be tethered because he can jump short fences. He has not shown me any resource guarding around food or treats the only time he growled was when one of my dogs tried to take a chew toy away from him.Adoption Fee: $100
