Halo is stubborn in the way only a Pyrenees can be—he knows what he wants, and he's not particularly interested in hearing arguments to the contrary. Despite his strong-willed nature, Halo has a gentle heart and a calm presence. He's not looking to cause chaos; he simply prefers to make his own decisions and take life at his own pace. Halo will need a family who understands the breed and appreciates that a Pyrenees comes with a mind of his own. In return, you'll have an enormous, fluffy companion with a wonderfully gentle nature and a personality you certainly won't forget. If you've always wanted a gentle giant who is equal parts loving, independent, and hilariously stubborn, Halo might be your guy.

Story
We adopted Biscuit when he was 8 weeks old after falling in love with him at an adoption event. We quickly discovered that a close relative has severe allergies to dogs, and that we would not be able to keep Biscuit long term. We startedAs a young puppy, he was smart, quiet, and calm, but timid and weary of strangers. He would hide under a couch, bed or closet when guests would come over. We worked to socialize him with guests of all ages, and exposed him to all kinds of people and things on walks in the neighborhood and dog park. We used positive reinforcement, as taught in puppy training classes. Biscuit grew bigger and stronger, and it seems his anxiety and reactivity increased. We continued positive reinforcement, but with three young children, it was difficult to maintain consistency.Biscuit is from both protective and herding breeds, and is very protective of his family and home including yard. While he takes time to warm up to new people, he is loyal to those he knows and loves.
