Story
Imagine if your loveseat could love you back! That’s Duke.Eleven years old, vast, fluffy, and devoted. Duke’s whole world was rearranged when his family surrendered him -- through no fault of his own. This Great Pyrenees Mix had been fabulous in the home, with excellent house and leash manners and fabulous social skills. His first few days here, he softly moaned. Not loudly. Not dramatically. Just a low, confused hum of “What happened?” It was heartbreaking. And then -- in the most dignified Duke way -- he shook it off.He decided that if this was his new chapter, he would meet it with grace. Now he stretches his enormous self across the floor like a living throw blanket. A fuzzy island you technically need to step over to accomplish anything. But you won’t. You’ll sit down instead. Because Duke is irresistible. He steals your heart and your schedule -- not by demanding attention, but by simply being soft and sweet and right there. He’s one of our favorite office dogs. We love having him in the food prep area. He's absolutely large enough to inhale every meal in sight, but he never so much as tries. He just lays by our feet and radiates love like a benevolent, slightly oversized cloud.Health-wise, Duke is doing well. He’s a few pounds overweight -- aren’t we all after a stressful season? -- and he has some pink skin from a flea allergy that's already healing now that he’s flea-free. And yesterday, something magical happened. He spotted a soft squeaky toy. His whole face lit up. He did the gentlest happy bounce, selected his prize, and proudly paraded around all morning with a tiny stuffed emoji ball in his mouth. He chose the happy one.If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate, gentle senior who will quietly anchor your days, warm your floors, and make your loveseat jealous -- Duke is waiting.Animal Aid Society is located at 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are 9am to noon, including weekends and holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
**PLEASE HELP** We are not able to keep Annie and I cannot stand the thought of her being euthanized at a shelter but if this doesn't resolve, that may be my only option. Annie is really in need of a great home and deserves to be loved. She would be great at protecting live stock or a family from any squirl that comes close to your yard. I love Annie. Her owner passed away in July and I do not have space due to having three other dogs. She gets along great with my Golden Retrievers. She does chase my cat but am not sure if she would hurt her as we never let her get that close. She was groomed a couple of weeks ago and looks great. Hugging her is like hugging a cloud. She would be a great alpha female or an only pet. She is a very sweet dog and only wants love. I want to make sure she goes to a good home.

Story
Meet Super Smokey! He is one of six young Great Pyrenees mix puppies who found themselves homeless—until Miss Kayla came to their rescue. She loaded up her truck and whisked the pups away to safety. Unsure of what awaited them, the puppies were overjoyed to discover they were headed to a beautiful farm, where they will stay with Miss Kayla until their forever families find them   The puppies have plenty of space to run and play, enjoying daily exercise as they race to the pond. On warm days, you’ll often find several of them taking a joyful dip—white dogs and muddy water make for lots of fun! Autumn and her siblings are exceptionally smart. They’ve already mastered sit, stay, roll over, and give paw, and they’re always eager to learn new tricks. All of the puppies are kennel trained and making excellent progress with potty training. Each one knows exactly which kennel is theirs for mealtime and bedtime—impressive for such young pups!   You won’t find a more loving litter of puppies. They nap and play together all day, forming strong bonds with each other. While they don’t need to be adopted as a group, these social butterflies will thrive best in homes with another dog for companionship. If you’re looking to welcome a BIG boy or girl into your family, one of these pups could be the perfect fit. They will be spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and microchipped before adoption. Puppies are required to receive three vaccines at three-week intervals, and they’ll be ready to travel to their forever homes on April 3.   To be considered as a forever family and to request an application, please email Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or text 615-943-7311. An approved application and adoption fee are required. (These wonderful pups are located in Tennessee and can be transported north on April 3.)February 17, 2026, 1:53 pm
