Story
WATCH MY VIDEO...What??? A dog that barks? Sadly, that’s the reason beautiful 3-year-old Dahlia found herself at the shelter. Yes, she barks. Because she’s a dog. And while barking can sometimes be something that needs guidance and training, it shouldn’t erase all the wonderful things about a dog, especially a dog as sweet as Dahlia. She is a beautiful Greyhound mix with a whole lot of love, personality, and energy to share. Her former family told us she did well with adults, children as young as 5, and other dogs. She hasn’t lived with cats, so that’s still a mystery we’d want to explore carefully. They described her as playful, friendly, affectionate, cuddly, and always ready for some fun. Here at the shelter, Dahlia has been showing us just how special she is. Staff and volunteers describe her as a very sweet and social girl who happily approaches the front of her kennel with a wagging tail, ready to say hello. Give her a little attention and she’s perfectly happy to sit right beside you, soaking up every bit of affection. And treats? Dahlia is a fan! She takes them gently and is eager to please. She’s also easy to leash and walks beautifully with minimal pulling. Once outside, she enjoys exploring the world through her nose, calmly sniffing around the yard while checking in with her person for a little attention and reassurance. Dahlia is definitely an energetic girl who will need an active family willing to give her plenty of exercise, enrichment, playtime, and companionship. She thrives on attention and would love someone who sees her energy not as a problem, but as an opportunity to have a fun, engaging best friend by their side. And yes, Dahlia may bark. But behind that voice is a dog who is affectionate, social, playful, gentle, treat-motivated, easy to handle, and absolutely deserving of a second chance. Please don`t let one perfectly normal dog behavior define Dahlia. She has so much more to say. She’s looking for someone willing to listen.
