Story
Meet PIPER! Piper is a beautiful Greyhound mix who was rescued from a rural NC shelter and has been in a foster home way too long. Piper is approximately 8.5 years old and weighs 55 lbs. She is a calm girl and loves to lay around, but she does have a tendency to howl at night. We are not sure where she gets the howling from, but we believe she would do best in a rural setting (quiet neighborhood vs apartment) due to this. Piper adores people and loves to snuggle. Piper is great on a leash and although a very calm dog, it takes her a long time to warm up to other dogs. We recommend being the only pet. She is also NO CATS (she will stalk them). If you are looking for a walking partner or couch companion, Piper may be your girl. Please reach out to Julie on 919 624 0059 or julie@arcadiarescue.org to learn more about Piper.

Story
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK MEET STELLA the Lab Mix (tall and skinny body frame with a deep chest like a Greyhound) North New Jersey Stella is the sweetest girl and as easy as they come. She loves sunning herself in the yard and taking naps. She is a very good communicator and lets you know when she needs to go out, wants to come in, needs water, etc. She also let's you know if someone is approaching the house, although she doesn't move from her sunny spot to do so. She is very well behaved in the house and clearly had some training and strict rules in her former home. She seeks approval to move around at all turns. It’s kind of sad actually. She is spayed, UTD, her blood work and xrays are normal, HW negative, she was treated for Lyme, her mouth is nice and clean so she didn't need a dental, housebroken, and she weighs 69 lbs. Her digestive system was a disaster upon arrival so we did allergy testing (5Strands) and the ole gal knew what she needed—the only thing she would eat and she had some great options—Annamaet Lean kibble (green bag). It’s as boring and vanilla as it comes. Her stomach cleared up immediately and she has been regular since. Stella is a wonderful gal who deserves her very own person to spend her retirement. She is very happy to meander around a small yard and plop down. She doesn’t really need to be walked so she is a great option for someone who just wants to let their dog out into the yard and back in. Given she is older and has long legs, she should not be doing a lot of stairs. She can do a step or two to get in and out of the house but she is not doing a flight of steps. So ideally a Ranch style house would be wonderful for her and obviously would prolong her life. Please fill out our adoption application if you are interested in Stella (link below). Please note we do not reply to all applications. Unfortunately we do not have the bandwidth. We only reach out if we would like to move forward in the process with your application. Thank you in advance for your understanding! Her adoption donation is $250. TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION We only process complete applications and providing false information immediately disqualifies you from adopting. https://gingerbreaddogs.org/adopt-overview/adoption-application/ Please follow our Facebook page to see new dogs as they arrive and to keep up on the daily shenanigans: https://www.facebook.com/gingerbreaddogs ABOUT OUR PROCESS: WE ONLY CONTACT APPLICANTS WITH WHOM WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. We typically get in touch within 24-48 hours, but it may take up to 10 days. Please watch your email and answer your phone (from 201 area code) after you submit an application. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to reply to all applicants. We also do not have the manpower to accept phone calls. Everything we know about the dog is posted above. Our adoption process is on our website. You can see more about our daily operations on our Facebook page. PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with us, we will move on to the next application and you will not be considered. We consider out-of-area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey, and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is “first qualified, first come” and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue, and we reserve the right to deny adoption at any point during the process.

Story
Meet Socks — an adorable 6-month-old Whippet mix boy with the sweetest soul. This sensitive little puppy was rescued after being cruelly abandoned on the street and thankfully brought to safety by a kind rescuer. Despite his difficult start in life, Socks is gentle, loving, and affectionate — he simply wants to feel safe and loved. Socks can be shy at first and will need a patient adopter committed to helping him build confidence through positive reinforcement training, puppy obedience classes, and proper socialization. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality truly shines. He would do best in a calm, loving home with people who understand that shy puppies need time, patience, and encouragement to blossom. With love and consistency, Socks has all the potential to become an amazing lifelong companion. We would love to bring him in June if we can secure a committed adopter or foster-to-adopt home for him. Socks is: -Neutered -Microchipped -Up to date on vaccinations -Heartworm negative -Dewormed -On flea, tick, and heartworm prevention -Crate trained; Potty training has begun, and continued crate training will help reinforce good habits and routine If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion and want to help a deserving puppy grow into a confident, happy dog, Socks may be your perfect match. Interested in adopting Socks? Please complete an adoption application and email sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com for more information.
