Story
Stone is such a sweet girl, very gentle, gentle-hearted, easygoing, affectionate, good-natured, with a soft temperament. Perfect for a pet parent with anxiety. Paired with someone that is softspoken, an in need of someone to care for with patience, because she suffers from some anxiety and doesnt react to change very well. She is medicated for this, so it effects a good deal of her existence. She has been know to be aggressive only with larger breed dogs. I believe its anxiety-aggression. She feels threatened so she acts first. She is great with other dogs as long as they arent rough. But her and little brother often and still rough house, and box. Her breed is very popular in the UK and Ireland. They are referred to as Lurchers, and they are popular as working dogs in the more rural parts, but also popular as family dogs. True to her greyhound lineage, she like short bursts of running really really fast, but is usually pretty lazy otherwise. Her obsession with catch is over the top.

Story
Ginger is the kind of dog who fits into your life instead of taking it over. Calm at home, ready to explore when you are—she gives you the best of both worlds. Ginger is a 40 lb female greyhound mix with a quiet, easygoing personality. She’s affectionate but not needy, happy to be near you without constantly demanding attention. She’s the type of dog who can relax on the couch after a long day but is just as happy joining you on weekend adventures—hikes, road trips, lakes, or just getting out and exploring. She has a naturally balanced energy. Not hyper, not lazy—just easy to live with. Whether you want a peaceful companion at home or a steady partner on the trail, Ginger adjusts right along with you. Good fit: someone who wants a calm, low-drama dog who can also enjoy occasional adventures without being high maintenance. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Here's what you need to know about me:I'm easy going. Wanna go for a walk? Okay. Hang out in the yard? No problem. Just relax on the couch? I can do that. I'm pretty happy to go at your pace and I don't really need much more than most dogs do. If you're looking for a steady companion, I'm all yours.I have some handling sensitivity. That means I have some preferences about how and where I get petted. My human friends at the shelter can tell you more!I can be nervous around new people. It just takes me a little while to get comfortable. But once I get to know you, I'm very loving.I can be shy in new spaces. I need a family who will let me take things at my own pace as I learn about new things. Once I come out of my shell, I have lots of love to give.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please speak to an adoption counselor.I'm currently in foster and ready for my new home! If you're interested in meeting me, please email caninefoster@southwesthumane.org Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 50 Age: 2yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
MEET AJAX! Ajax is a 6-1/2-year-old Greyhound-Pittie-Shepherd mix, in need of a foster or forever home. Ajax is a special boy who needs a special person to work with him and help him through some of his issues. He is the type of dog who bonds intensely to his person, and thus any transition is a challenge (and in fact, transitioning him to you could be challenging). But once he bonds to you, he's loyal to you forever. Ajax would be a great companion for an active person who wants a mix of a couch potato and active canine pal. Physically, Ajax is a quirky boy! He's got a pittie face, shepherd ears and long legs. He loves to run and play, and he loves his toys, too. He would do well with an experienced adopter or foster who can provide him with love and attention and some basic obedience training. He was once adopted a couple years ago but returned for jumping up on the adopters. But he was loyal to them, too. He has done well with most most dogs but would thrive as an only dog, too. He's not a van of the vet, so needs to wear a muzzle if he goes. Ajax weighs 57 lbs. If you can foster or adopt him, and have dog experience, please email for an application. He is currently in Southern California, but can be transported to Oregon.

Story
WOOF! I'M SPARTA! I'm a sweet and active 2-1/2-year-old Cattle Dog mix (possibly mixed with Greyhound) in need of a forever home! I was rescued from a California shelter along with my sisters, who now have been adopted. So now it's time for me to get noticed! I am a relatively small girl - about 40-45 pounds - and would do well in a and active and quiet home with people who can take me for walks, hikes and other outings. I have done well around other dogs though would do great as an only dog, too. I'm currently in Southern California but can be transported to Oregon. Please email for an application.
