Story
Stanley is a spirited and resilient young dog with a story that tugs at the heartstrings. Born on April 2, 2022, he is a possible Greyhound/Chihuahua mix weighing in at 40 pounds. Stanley is healthy, up-to-date on all vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, neutered, and received a Proheart 12 injection for year-long protection.
A Journey of Hope and Resilience
Stanley's journey has been a challenging one. He was first adopted as a tiny puppy but was returned when he grew too big. His second adoption ended because of his enthusiasm for chasing cats. "Third time's the charm?" we ask, as Stanley now finds himself at Barking Mad Animal Rescue (BMAR).
From Shelter to Shelter
Stanley's early months were spent in a shelter, where he was then transferred to Rescue #1. Despite their efforts, Stanley's adoptions didn't work out, and they couldn't keep him. He was sent to Rescue #2, which had no room for him, leading to a lengthy three-year stay in a boarding facility. A change in ownership at the facility placed Stanley at risk of euthanasia, but he was saved and brought to BMAR.
Stanley's Personality and Skills
Stanley is a well-behaved and friendly dog. He is great on a leash, potty trained, and can use a doggie door. He enjoys playing with other dogs and is comfortable in playgroups. Stanley gets along well with older kids, though he hasn't been around young children. He can be a bit shy in new situations but quickly warms up.
Overcoming Challenges
Due to his long stay in boarding, Stanley developed "barrier aggression," a behavior that arises from being confined. However, at BMAR, once the gate is open, Stanley joyfully runs out to play, showing no aggression. The team at BMAR has had no problems with him, and he is very friendly.
The Perfect Home for Stanley
Stanley is looking for a loving home that can offer him the stability and care he deserves. He would thrive in a household that can accommodate a 40-pound dog and does not have cats. Stanley has a lot of love to give and is waiting for the right family to provide him with a permanent, loving home. Could you be the one to give Stanley his happy ending?
