Sweet Sophie thought she had found her forever home, but unfortunately it wasn’t the right fit because she does NOT do well with cats. So this sweet girl is back with her foster and hoping the right family sees her this time! 🏡💕 Sophie is approximately 2 years old and 35 lbs. She is a happy, affectionate girl with the cutest smile and gets along well with people and other dogs but not cats. Sophie is currently located in Austin while she waits for her forever home. She is also currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but please don’t let that stop you from considering her! Furever Friends and Rescue is covering the cost of her heartworm treatment, and Sophie CAN be adopted now while completing treatment. ❤️ Sophie deserves a family who will give her the happy ending she’s been waiting for. If you don’t have cats and are looking for a sweet, loving companion, she may be your girl! 🥰 📧 Interested in adopting Sophie? fureverfriendsandrescue@gmail.com 🌐 fureverfriendsandrescue.com 📱 Follow us on Facebook: Furever Friends and Rescue Sophie's former adopter sent us some notes to help describe her..... -extremely playful/loves to fetch (still working on dropping it but swap for another ball and that works) and likes to play surgeon on her stuffies 🙂 -loooves belly, back and neck scratches -enjoys cuddling near and on her people -sits calmly while harness is being put on for a walk -knows “sit,” shake, comes to her name and has understanding of “ leave it” (except with cats or little outside critters) and "stay" -learned how to play “find it” with treats hidden around the house -goes into her crate on her own when time for bed and sleeps through the night without issues -left out (not crated) during the day (few hours at a time) and has not chewed anything -once she gets to know you she will let you know she needs to go outside by doing a little whimper and trying extra hard to get your attention -prefers a home without cats as she is over aroused by them/high prey drive

Story
We adopted Niall from our city shelter. While most other dogs in the kennel were loudly barking, he was standing silently, wagging his tail. We have had him for about five months. We call him Neely. NOTE: Niall would not be happy in an apartment. He needs a well-fenced yard with another dog or two & kids to play with. So we can’t consider those living in apartments.Neely is perfectly house-trained, kind, gentle and lovable. He loves his ball and toys. He quietly sleeps indoors through the night. He’s never acted threatening to anyone or any other animals. Added bonus is that he has no odor. Niall does bark when outdoors. Why we want to rehome: We are both in our 70s and have realized since we adopted Niall that he needs more exercise than we can give him. He needs to have a large field where he can run miles a day, with children to play with, bones to chew and balls to chase. We love this dog but we can’t manage to let him outdoors enough. We hate to give him up but it’s necessary.
