Story
From foster dog mom: Mr Peabody is currently being fostered in our home. He`s asked me to tell you about his experience as well as I understand it, in his `words.` Around January 8, 2026 I was abandoned in the Ocala National Forest, a few miles from the Big Bass Campground. I stayed close to the spot where I was left, waiting for my people to come back to get me. I don`t know what happened? One day I`m sleeping in the bed, doted over by my person. Then suddenly, I didn`t know where my next meal would come from, it was nerve-wracking! This nice lady came along, she left food and water for me a few times. I didn`t have a collar, or a microchip to help find my way home. This was discovered after picking me up Friday, January 9th in the afternoon. She took me to both the Leesburg Humane Society to get scanned for a microchip, then Marion County Animal Services. She intended to leave me there because she already has a full house of three large adopted dogs and five adopted cats. All of us are rescues, abandoned animals, all but one abandoned in the Ocala National Forest. Her big dogs are older, not really playful with me, but they leave me alone. Anyway, Animal Services had a full house already so they asked her if she could be foster dog-mom, so I`m here in her home. A little about me: I think I`m about four years old. I`m not interested in cats, I can tolerate them. I like playing tug with the rope toy. I really like gnawing my bone and I don`t want anyone to snatch it from me. Even though I was pampered previously, sleeping in the bed and on the sofa, she has plenty of comfy dog beds and I`m fine sleeping on the floor. She has plenty of food and water for us at all times. That`s nice, and I`m not a greedy gobbler, just eat what I need. We`d really like to find a special place for me! I`m a sweet, special guy who is looking for love. I give it! I love to snuggle, and give kisses. My tail is always happily wagging. I greet with manners, never jumping up on her work clothes. I know what sit, down, and kisses mean. I walk well on a leash, by myself or with the other dogs. I love car rides and ride well. I`m house-trained, I never have an accident in in the home I will gladly change my name if you want. She calls me Mr Peabody, but I kinda like Sunny. She already has a cat by that name, so, what am I gonna do? Call me anything, but please call me!She`ll be happy to work with Marion County Animal Services to arrange our meeting.
