Gus' foster parent has this to say about Gus: Gus is a fun loving 3 ½ year old male basset who has been in my home since April 2025, when his owner of only 6-8 months had to surrender him as she had a terminal illness. He had some challenges that I have been working on with him. He had severe resource guarding issues but is 95% better today. He is fed in a separate area then his basset sister and left alone while eating. He will growl periodically if he thinks that there is food in a bowl that his sister or the cat walks by so thus why the bowls are picked up promptly after feedings and put away till the next feeding. He is not particularly fond of men and does growl at them when he sees them. (workers on the ranch/vet’s office) As I am single and do not have men in my home, I can not work with him on this insecurity. I have exposed him to other people and dogs when he goes out on walks and he does ok. He has been boarded on a few different occasions when I am out of the area or for a doggy daycare day and does well, although he does initially growl at any male staff. Gus loves to do zoomies up and down the hallway and play with his cat friend Stanley and his 2 canine sisters, Presley and Kitchi. He does bark at traffic on the ranch and the cows across the street. I feel he would be best in a home with another canine sister that is easy going and matches his medium energy and either with just a single woman or a couple that is willing to work with him to get him acclimated to men. Overall, Gus is a love and with the right family and continued socialization, will thrive. He can be stubborn, as most bassets are known for, but that is what I love about my bassets, as I also am stubborn so understand the mentality. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    This shy little sweetheart is Pickle. She is a beautiful black and white dog with a smooth coat, lovely ears and soulful eyes. Her breed mix is just a guess, but her relatively short legs and floopy ears suggest that she may be a basset hound mix. However, whatever her ancestry, this girl is agile and a jumper! She can easily jump over a standard baby gate. Pickle was an unclaimed stray in a local shelter and is guessed to be around 3 years old. Pickle is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.  Pickle has a sweet dispostion. Although initially standoffish with the other dogs in her foster home, it took only about 30 minutes for her to get comfortable with the dogs and to start playing. However, she seems to be most comfortable around dogs her own size, or smaller.   She is not fond of the family's bloodhound, but she loves their two basset hounds. She will chase the family cats. In terms of her humans, Pickle seems to prefer women to men. It took her some time to warm up to her foster dad. It is unknown, at this time, how she reacts to children. She's a good car traveler and does great when out in public places. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Buzz is a 9-year-old neutered male basset hound with a loving playful personality. Buzz's foster home has helped Buzz shed a few pounds, so he is more active, very playful, and has come out of his shell. Buzz is up to date on all his vetting, including recently having had a dental. Buzz is a wonderful boy, he is sweet as they come. He sure loves his humans and wants to be with them whenever he can, following you all over the home. Buzz also is very attached to the doggie pals in his foster home, spending his days romping and hanging out with them. He is a little shy when meeting new doggies out in the world, but warms up quickly. He  plays well with other dogs as he has 2 basset buddies here, one 6yr and a 4 month puppy, he will let the puppy know when he wants to be left alone. Buzz is a great watch dog, keeping an eye out on his home. Not sure how Buzz will do with cats though. Buzz does bark when you walk out the door, but  settles right down. He becomes real excited when you do return and will bark a bit. This wonderful boy will be a great addition to a  family.
