Story
Dolly is the kind of dog who makes life easy. She`s a gentle, loving senior girl looking for a home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by affection, daily walks, and a cozy place to rest.Dolly is fully house trained and sleeps soundly through the night in her dog bed. She`s wonderfully calm and well-mannered in the home—she doesn`t bark out the window, doesn`t jump on furniture (unless you invite her up), and takes treats with the softest touch. She`s fantastic with people of all ages and absolutely adores every human she meets. Dolly currently lives with a 3-year-old toddler and has been incredibly patient and gentle. She`s also completely unfazed by the busy sights and sounds of neighborhood life, including children playing, strollers, bikes, scooters, delivery trucks, thunderstorms, rain, and even the vacuum cleaner. On walks, Dolly is a dream. She walks beautifully on leash and still has plenty of pep in her step. Don`t let her age fool you - she enjoys staying active and happily joins her family for 2–3 miles of walks each day.Dolly currently lives with another dog and is compatible with calm canine companions. Most of the time, she coexists beautifully, but she does need some simple management around food. Dolly can be protective of treats, dropped food, or meals, so she should always be fed separately from other pets. Occasionally, if she`s startled while sleeping in her bed and another dog gets too close, she may react. With a little awareness and respect for her space, these situations are easily managed.Dolly is truly a lovely, sweet, easy dog whose needs are simple: a loving home, regular walks, and people who will cherish her through her golden years. In return, she`ll offer companionship, affection, and the kind of steady, gentle presence that makes a house feel like home.** Dolly is currently living in one of our amazing foster homes! Adopting from foster is easy. Just call 734-662-5585 or email adoptions@hshv.org to set up a visit today!
