Story
Hello, my name is Dolly, I am a senior dog who knows what I am looking for in a forever home. I will be an open book from the start! You will know important things like my full-grown size, personality, and ideal lifestyle. I would enjoy a more low-key lifestyle to live out my golden years! I’m looking for a lowkey household without any young kids or cats so I can be your main focus. I can be selective when it comes to new friends, so I’d like to meet any potential dog siblings before I go home.Dolly is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Doc! Doc is a goofy, fun-loving guy who brings smiles wherever he goes. With his easy-going personality and laid-back attitude, he's the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal best friend. Doc gets along great with his foster brothers and enjoys spending time with his canine pals, whether they're playing together or just relaxing around the house. When playtime is over, Doc is happiest curled up on the couch next to his favorite person. He's a true couch potato who loves to cuddle and soak up all the attention he can get. Doc thrives on companionship and enjoys being close to his people, making him the perfect snuggle buddy for movie nights and lazy afternoons. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate dog with a goofy personality and a heart full of love, Doc may be the perfect addition to your family!    Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Murray is a Beagle mix estimated to be about 10 years old.  He is a very gentle, low-maintenance, easy dog and, despite his age, has a spring in his step and can run surprisingly fast.  He displays those lovable [but occasionally annoying] Beagle behaviors such as magically appearing when there is food to be had, letting his nose direct his steps...usually in haste to a tantalizing smell, lavishing his affection on humans and sleeping the night away with visions of squirrels dancing in his head!  Murray enjoys walks and does great on leash. After his walk, he patiently waits for you to wipe his feet off so he doesn’t track debris into the house.  He loves rolling in the grass and soaking up the sunshine.  Murray is house-trained and a gentleman in the home. He is very quiet.  He does exhibit some mild separation anxiety when left alone but is not destructive.  When you return, whether it’s been 2 minutes or 3 hours, Murray greets you like you are a rock star! He forms a strong bond with his family and is very loyal. Murray requires only gentle correction or redirection.  His whole life is focused on pleasing his humans!  He also loves other canine companions and would love to have a canine friend. Though 10-ish, Murray still has several good years ahead of him.  He is healthy, has no known medical issues, is UTD on vaccines, neutered and microchipped.  He came into care with rotted teeth and open nasal fistulas and had extensive dental surgery to remove all his remaining rotted teeth and suture the fistulas.  Murray has recovered well from his surgery. Because all his teeth were removed his tongue hangs out all the time. But that only makes him all the cuter!  He has a healthy appetite and eats soft food with dry kibble softened with warm water.   Murray just wants a family to love….could it be yours?     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Bette, our newest arrival at the Mikey & Me Kennels for Happy Days Rescue. Bette is a small Beagle, we are unsure of her age but hope to know more at her first Vet appt., she weighs about 25 pounds, and she is an absolute love bug. Bette loves engaging with people and will quickly gravitate to wherever you are. She walks nicely on leash and has been non-reactive to our other dogs.  Bette came to us after being picked up as a stray with no tags, no microchip, and no one that claimed her. She received her vaccinations and booster shots while at the Shelter and I’ve scheduled a Vet appt. for next week to have her tested for heart worm disease and for spay surgery. She will be microchipped and will have a physical exam at that time.  If you would like to meet Bette, please complete an adoption application under her name at  happydaysdogandcatrescue.org .     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. Story
KYRA 2 years LYRA 1 year Attributes Bonded pair Dog friendly Adult-only home Not best for apartments Housetrained Need a fenced yard Kyra and Lyra are a beautiful, young, bonded pair of small girls who are ready to find a loving home together. They came from a breeder situation and are now discovering how wonderful life in a home can be. With each passing day in their foster home, they continue to grow in confidence and show just how special they are. These two are inseparable and share a sweet, devoted bond—they truly do everything together. Kyra, about 2 years old, is the more confident of the pair. Whether it’s heading outside or settling in for bedtime, she helps show Lyra the way. Kyra is curious and gently explores her surroundings, and once she feels comfortable, she enjoys back scratches, belly rubs, treats, and even following her foster family around. She loves cozy spots—whether that’s by your feet, on the couch, or snuggled up with a dog friend. Lyra, around 1½ years old, is a thoughtful and observant girl who still requires encouragement from Kyra and other dogs. While she is reserved, she is clearly interested in connecting and has already made progress—taking treats by hand and choosing to rest near her foster mom. With time and patience, her sweet personality will continue to shine through. Both girls have made good strides since arriving in foster care. They are learning to relax, enjoy a predictable routine, and feel safe in their environment. Because of this, they would do best in a home in a quiet suburban or rural neighborhood – apartment living and the hustle and bustle of city life is not for them! They would prefer an adult-only home, but a quiet home with calm, older children might also be a viable option. Car rides are not on their list of favorite things to do, but hopefully over time they will learn that car rides can lead to fun. They love having cozy spaces to unwind and will happily play, run, and wrestle together when they think no one is watching! Their playful side really comes out with each other and with other friendly dogs. Kyra and Lyra are housetrained with only occasional accidents and do best with regular outdoor access, so a fenced yard will help them continue to succeed. They haven’t yet learned leash walking but are making progress every day in building trust and confidence. These gentle, loving girls are looking for a patient and understanding home that will continue to nurture their growth. In return, they will offer a special bond—not only with each other, but with the lucky family who gives them the chance to fully blossom into the happy, loving companions they are meant to be. NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

SHEILA 2 – 3 years Attributes Adult-Only Home Preferred Will potty on leash Crate Trained Does not Like Car Rides Not good with Cats Dog Friendly Working on House Training Medium Energy Playful Not best for Apartments Hi Everyone, My name is Sheila. I am a stunning 15-inch blue tick beagle, and under three years old (DOB 07-26-23). I had a family that included other dogs. Unfortunately, we needed new homes because of our owners’ ages and health issues. My foster family said I have the sweetest personality. I LOVE people and spending time with them…petting sessions are the best! I am docile, friendly with other dogs, loving and well socialized. I was an outdoor dog, but I am nearly housetrained (approximately 75%). I LOVE BEING IN A HOME! I have not destroyed anything other than some dents in the dog toys. I have a medium energy level. I get the zoomies, but I like to nap or to play with toys for a large portion of the day. My previous owners trained me for trail runs (officially retired when I came to Midwest BREW). Because of my trail run experience, I have a hunt drive, but it has been decreasing during my time with my foster family. Surprisingly, if you take me for a walk, it is loose leash walking except for sniffing along the way (I am a beagle). I am approximately 36 lbs., but I am slim. Note from the foster home: Sheila is an extremely sweet, loving and funny foster dog. She is VERY smart. She loves to “hug” us with her front legs. Her transition into a home is going much quicker than expected. She is good with our resident beagle. Sheila has been good at interacting with children in the neighborhood. We do not have a fenced yard, but she potties on a leash. Leashed activities should be handled by adults because she is a bit strong. She is crate trained. Color about fence experience was provided by previous owners – she could climb the fenced-in recreational area with or without the assistance of the surrounding trees. Sheila is still adjusting to being in a car. She will not do well in a home with cats or smaller animals such as guinea pigs. We recommend a residential home (she has an entire repertoire of adorable, but louder noises that would not be conducive for an apartment or townhouse). NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi, I’m Tanbo… but my friends call me Snoop! I was adopted as a puppy and sadly found my way back to the rescue due to family circumstances. While that wasn’t the plan, I’m hoping my forever family is still out there waiting for me! I’m a very curious and inquisitive guy—I love to sniff around and investigate everything going on in my world. When I first came back to the rescue, stuffed toys were actually banned for me because I used to immediately shred them. The good news? I’ve improved! I can have them again now… although I’ll admit I still enjoy chewing on them and occasionally pulling some stuffing out. Old habits die hard. When it comes to playmates, I really enjoy dogs that are smaller than me—they’re my kind of crowd! Bigger dogs, though? I’d rather keep my distance. I also tend to chase cats, so a cat-free home would probably be best. I would also do best in a home without younger children, as I prefer a calmer environment where I can relax and feel comfortable. One of my favorite things in the world is treats and cuddling with my humans. If you have a blanket, just know it automatically becomes our blanket. In fact, if you see a lump under a blanket on the couch, you might want to check before sitting down… it could be me! Because I only have 21 teeth left, crunchy treats are a little tough for me to chew. Softer chews are my favorite! And since I’m missing a few teeth, my tongue hangs out about 95% of the time, which just adds to my charm. As a senior gentleman, I do have a couple medical conditions. I have Cushing’s disease and low B12, which means I’ll need medication for the rest of my life. I also take a little medicine for separation anxiety when my humans leave, but if you’re just gone for a few hours, I’ll handle it like a champ. What I’m really looking for is a cozy home, some soft treats, a warm blanket, and humans who love to cuddle as much as I do. If that sounds like you, I think we might be a perfect match.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. June 22, 2026, 8:23 am
