Story
"Some people make the world special just by being in it." - Selffa.com. I'll bet you're a special person, aren't you? I think I'm special too. I'm a cute, lovable seven-year-old black and white kitty boy called Carson. My people named me Bruce, but since being returned to the shelter, I've been called by my original name, Carson. I was an affectionate, energetic kitten. In my home, I liked my alone time, but I enjoyed receiving affection and petting. I really bonded with the disabled adult son in the home. I may have understood him, I guess. See, I'm different from many kitties. I have pica. Some kitties get it (people too). It means that we eat things we shouldn't. In my case, I chew on cloth - blankets, soft toys, and things like that. It can be very dangerous, as I found out the hard way. I get lots of TLC from staff and volunteers here at the shelter! I am always up for playing with them, or on my own. I love playing with water under the faucet! I can play with plastic balls and all sorts of toys that I can't chew or swallow, and I can be comfortable in a space without blankets. I trust that you are loving, smart, creative, and capable of giving me the kind of care that a special boy like me needs. Give me a window where I can watch the birds and squirrels and soak up the sun. Let me soak up your love! I will be a happy Carson boy! Let's share our special lives together!Adoption fee $50 + microchip fee $30 + tax

Story
Are you someone who looks at a cat and sees a work of art? If you are, then purrhaps you'll appurrciate me! I'm Edgar, a fine-looking, black, 2 ½-year-old male cat whose person returned me and another cat to Paws and Claws due to allergies. Kora and I are not listed as bonded, but we could be adopted together. The artist Edgar Degas once said, "Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." I can describe myself to you, but you need to meet me and see for yourself what a lovely boy I am. As a kitten I was quiet, loving, and playful. I was so snuggly and good-natured. I did not like returning to the shelter, but after a day or two, I settled down. I purr loudly when petted, so please pet me! Play with me too! For beautiful, lovable, living, breathing art you can see, touch, hear, and love with all your heart, choose Edgar to be yours for years to come. Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax

Story
There's an Irish blessing that goes like this: "May your troubles be less, and your blessings be more, and may nothing but happiness come through your door." I'm a pretty white and grey girl named Ryla, which is a name of Irish origin that means "goddess of heavens." I came to the shelter on Groundhog Day last year! Why am I still here? I'm a lovely, 2-year-old white and grey girl who had been seen hanging around a home in NW Rochester. I'm one of those very shy cats who "doesn't show well." I spend a lot of time on the shelves, but I am making progress! I come down more than I used to and stay down for longer periods. I stick around when staff and volunteers I know are in the room. But I run and climb to safety when strangers arrive. I also run from people who approach me, even when they are familiar to me. I have befriended some of the shy kittens and love cuddling with them. I have become especially close to an older kitten named Lynx. Like all the cats here, I deserve a loving, caring home. I deserve security and contentment. As someone who loves cats, you need to be extra patient with me. Please understand that I've been here more than a year, and I've made slow progress. When I go home, I will not change into an outgoing, affectionate cat overnight. Not in a week, or maybe not even in a month or more. Can you be patient? Can you love me as I am? I might surprise you - and myself. It would help me adjust more quickly to a new home if I could be adopted with my friend Lynx. I'm wishing for the luck of the Irish so I can be someone's forever Ryla very soon. Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax
