Story
Winston is a handsome, 2 yr old Havanese, mixed possibly with ShihTzu, who weighs 17 lbs.   He has a very big, lovable personality.  Winston is smart and pays attention to everything going on in the household. He is outgoing and friendly. Winston is playful, active and athletic and is doing very well on housetraining and leash walking.  Although Winston is active, he is snuggly and likes being held like a baby.  He is high energy and needs a home where he can get plenty of exercise and playtime.  His new family should be one who enjoys and takes daily vigorous walks and provides a lot of engaging stimulation. Winston would do best being an only dog. He doesn't seem to be able to read other dogs' cues.  Winston wants to be wherever his foster family is and tends to park himself under foot, so he can be a trip hazard.   Winston arrived at a rural shelter as a stray so matted that we chose to sedate him to groom him for his comfort.  His coat has now grown back beautifully and is low maintenance and low shed. Winston was very cooperative during his last grooming. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME (NO YOUNG CHILDREN) WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD FOR WINSTON'S ADOPTIVE HOME.  The secure fence must be 4ft (preferably 5 feet because he is a jumper) or higher, with gaps no greater than 2 1/2 inches and attached to the home. This is a requirement to adopt from Hart-2-Heart Rescue.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 40 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT.  No exceptions.   We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, North Carolina to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee:  $500April 23, 2024, 10:28 pm

Story
Quick Facts: Breed: Terrier/Havanese mix Age: 11 years Size: 17 lbs House-trained: Yes I want to introduce you to your new pup, Scouty Bean! Scouty Bean is looking for that forever home to live out his golden years. He’s 11 years old, but you would never know it in terms of how he moves, jumps, and acts. He loves being around people and is very low-key, but he does like his personal space and would not be considered a “lap dog.” This sprite old man has been living up life, enjoying long walks throughout Uptown and even longer naps on the couch. Scouty Bean loves to tag along with his person to the mailbox, the refrigerator, down the hall, to the bathroom… he’s game to follow! Scouty Bean is extremely chill, non-aggressive with other dogs—almost disinterested. He would be fine in a home with and without dogs. He has not been introduced to cats but has barked at some stray cats as they walk by his window. While Scouty Bean is crate-trained, he is not a big chewer and can be left out without making a mess or having an accident. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Scouty Bean is $ 308 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!
