Story
**DandyLion is a mixed-breed dog. While she has a low-shed coat, we cannot guarantee she is allergy-friendly.**   Meet the irrepressible DandyLion! DandyLion is estimated to be 1-2 years old, and she is a ball of energy who is always down for some fun. She loves making new friends and playing with her toys - especially the ones she can unstuff! She is looking for an active family who can keep up with her busy mind and body and provide her with lots of daily exercise and mental stimulation. DandyLion weighs about 13lbs, but would benefit from losing a tiny bit of weight. DandyLion came to us from a local shelter after she was found as a stray with a broken leg. Her hair was in a crazy afro when she arrived at the shelter, which earned her her adorable name. DandyLion was able to get surgery to fix her leg thanks to the amazing UC Davis Fracture Program. She is now all healed and ready to start her new life with her fur-ever family. DandyLion is a fun-loving, energetic girl, and there are no dull moments when she is around.  She knows how to bring back toys if you throw them for her, although she can get distracted after a few throws by other toys if they’re close by. Squirrel! She loves her walks and would be a great walking buddy for someone who needs a daily reminder to get outside. DandyLion already knows some basic skills like "sit" and "down", but would benefit from continued training with her new family. DandyLion still has some puppy-like behaviors. When she's excited, she can get a little mouthy, especially when she's just let out of her crate, but if you tell her to "sit," she'll settle right down to get petted. She also likes to chew things, so it would be wise to keep items that shouldn't be chewed on out of her reach. Her last conquest at her foster home was a small box of colored pencils she found on the floor during her foster mom’s craft room reorganization, so puppy-proofing and providing lots of okay-to-chew dog toys would be a good idea in her new home. DandyLion is very affectionate and loves attention, so would be a good cuddle partner for watching movies on the couch. Like a puppy, she sometimes digs if there’s some tempting loose soil around, like in large flowerpots or planter boxes. DandyLion loves her dog friends, but can be a bit boisterous, so would do best with dogs that can handle her enthusiastic playstyle. DandyLion has met a cat on a walk, and seems like she might be able to live with a dog-savvy cat after a slow introduction. DandyLion could make a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. DandyLion is house- and crate-trained. She is content to hang out in her crate for short periods during the day while alone and sleeps through the night in there. Due to her high-energy personality, she would do best in a home with a yard. DandyLion's fur type requires regular professional grooming to keep it from getting matted. Her new family will need to be able to handle that extra expense. Does this happy, energetic, sweet girl sound like a good match for your family? If so, submit an application today!   DandyLion's adoption fee is $500.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org.
