HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet him, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- Has a very goofy personality; loves toys, chewing on bones and playing tug- When he's not playing he LOVES cuddling with you as long as you are petting him- ADORES car rides! Likes to be in someone's lap, which doesn't quite work when you're driving, so his foster family is working with him on car manners; if you let him in your lap as a passenger, he will lean all the way against you and loves laying his head out of the window - Would probably enjoy a fenced yard, but has been doing fine with apartment life in his foster home as long as he gets regular long walks or hikes so he can exercise and sniff around- Learns very quickly and already knows sit, down and paw; currently working on off, stay and heel - Has been working on leash walking in his foster home and now rarely pulls; may still do best with a harness on walks - Can be fussy in the crate occasionally, but settles pretty quickly as long as he has a fan keeping him cool - he likes white noise as well!- Can be nervous around strangers who approach him with fast movements, but if they go slow he does well and is a love bug - Seems to love kids, but may not always like to share or return things he steals for himself; needs a mature (10+) home right now - With calm dogs he has done very well and tends to just lie next to them and play, but if he encounters a very active dog who matches his energy he tends to be a VERY rough player; will likely do best with a select group of rough-and-tumble dog friends with a similar play style (dog intro recommended) - Loves and is curious about cats, but he may be too much for some cats; in his foster home when the cats hiss at him, he thinks they are playing and tries to play back, which they do not appreciateThe ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs.
