Golden Retriever Puppies – Pre-Adoption Applications Open! Please read the entire description before applying. About the Puppies Litter " B ": 9 Golden Retriever puppies (born October 30th) – 2 females, 7 males. Litter " F ": 7 Golden Retriever puppies (born October 23rd). 6 Females 1 Male These puppies came to us at just one week old after their breeder realized they were not thriving in his outdoor kennels. Sadly, one puppy passed away at 4 days old due to the cold. Since then, we’ve stepped in to provide the care they need. Puppies are gaining weight and are healthy.  Adoption Requirements A fenced-in backyard is required (no invisible fences). If your condo/HOA does not allow a fence, alternative options may be considered case by case. Someone must be home more during the day to devote time to a puppy. Children in the household must be 8 years or older. Families with no dogs or one dog will be considered (no multiple-dog households). You agree to use a puppy pen, not a crate. Approved applicants will receive information on recommended pens. Applicants must live in Indiana or neighboring states. We do not transport or ship puppies. Application Process Submit your application online. If you seem like a good fit, you’ll be contacted within 72 hours. Approved applicants will gain access to our Puppy Page, where you can watch videos and follow the puppies’ growth. At 7 weeks old, you’ll select your puppy and place a $50 deposit to hold your choice. Applications are not approved on a first-come, first-served basis. We carefully review each one to find the best fit for our puppies. However, once your application is approved, you’ll be placed in line to choose your puppy—based on the order in which approvals were granted. Videos and updates will help you decide which puppy is right for you. If you attend your adoption appointment but choose not to adopt, your deposit will be refunded. Adoption Timeline Puppies will be available for adoption at 8 weeks old. Litter F (born Oct 23rd): Adoption days are December 23,  27, and 28, January 1, 2, 3, and 4 Litter B (born Oct 30th): Adoption days are January 1, 2, 3, and 4. Due to high interest, we are accepting pre-applications now. Puppy Health & Policy Puppies will receive regular deworming, age-appropriate vaccinations, and will be microchipped before adoption. Puppies will not be spayed/neutered before adoption. Early spay/neutering in large breeds (especially Golden Retrievers) can increase the risk of joint and hip issues. Adopters must sign a binding spay/neuter agreement and submit a $75 deposit, refunded once proof of procedure is provided at the appropriate age. Puppies cannot be given as Christmas presents to others. The applicant must attend the adoption appointment in person, provide proof of ID, and sign an Adoption Contract stating they will not rehome the puppy. Moms are not available for adoption at this time PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL WITH QUESTIONS. Please put in your application at www.indianasaveadog.com.  ##2588042##

Story
HONEY is a 7-year-old F1B Goldendoodle who was rescued from a puppy mill. We have had her for five and a half years, and she is considered one of our Sanctuary Dogs, meaning she could potentially stay with us for life. However, if she finds the right adoptive home, that would be wonderful. Honey tends to bond more easily with women than with men. She would thrive as the only dog in the household since she craves attention and companionship. When she first arrived, Honey was terrified of humans, but her fear has gradually diminished. Once she forms a bond with someone, she becomes the sweetest and most lovable dog to them. Like others in our sanctuary, Honey is not a social butterfly and is unlikely to become one. Honey receives grooming every two months and rides well in the car. While she can walk on a leash to the groomer, she is somewhat afraid of it. Daily leash walks may not be feasible for her due to her fear. What she truly needs is a safe backyard and a loving home. If you go on vacation, it's important to have a dog sitter come to your home, as she does not handle trips or boarding well. Honey has become somewhat protective of her people. When guests arrive, she tends to keep her distance, but there have been instances where she nipped at a stranger's ankles if they turned their back, then quickly ran away. We believe this behavior is her way of trying to protect us. It has never escalated beyond a nip and does not occur with everyone. It's best to introduce her to your guests using treats or to keep her in another room during visits. Due to the possibility of nipping, Honey would do best in a home without children. Additionally, she should be the only pet, as she is the alpha dog in her foster home and has shown signs of growling at other dogs. She does not engage in play with them; her priority is her people. With all that being said, she is the most lovable dog with us.  Honey is calm and has no anxiety issues. She can be trusted to free roam the house without a crate and will not chew or get into things. She is very well-behaved. To adopt Honey, you need a secure, fenced-in yard and someone home during the day. Potential adopters must be located within one hour of Northwest Indiana. Honey is vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $100.  ##2057193##
