Story
Dog Name: Ralphie Breed: Husky Sex: Male Age: 12-13 Weight: 54 pounds Medical Needs: Some vision loss, some hearing loss, some stinky breath, some old man joints. His breathing sounds a little rough due to laryngeal paralysis. Currently takes gabapentin and carprofen for old man pain management and a monthly round of antibiotics for his bad teeth. Monthly cost is about $50. He sometimes struggles on slippery floors, other times he's fine.  Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes, you'll have to leash him and guide him in though. He likes to put on the brakes at first. Once he's in, he sleeps all night. Good in the car: Yes, lays down. Good on a leash: Yes, great on a leash! Walks next to you, barely ever pulls. Energy level: Low Need a fenced in yard: Not if you keep him leashed. You don’t want him wandering off with his vision and hearing impairment. Dog Friendly: Yes, pretty calm during intros! Given his age he’d do best with other low-key dogs. His playful days are behind him. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No Cat Friendly: We haven’t seen him in a household with cats but he was indifferent to outside cats. We can do a more thorough cat test if needed. Kid Friendly: Yes If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? I’d say older kids/teenagers. Grandpa likes his sleep and doesn't want to be pulled around. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Raphie was brought in as a stray, so not much background. Shelter staff said he seems deaf and half blind. I think he can hear but just doesn't care to listen. #husky #independent He will perform for the right treats, preferably something soft. He knows sit, paw and down. He’ll do them just by using hand signals. He talks back when he doesn’t want to do something. Definitely still has some husky attitude despite his ripe old age. He'd be a great dog for someone who likes the husky look without the husky energy. He sleeps a LOT. He picked a favorite spot on day 1 and that’s where you’ll find him 95% of the time. He'll bark if he can't get to his spot. Fosters Location: Delmar, MD Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application If you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your application. ##2463037##

Story
Sadie Sink – Spirited, Smart, and Ready for Her Next Adventure ⭐ 3 years old · Husky · Approx. 65 lbs · Spayed Female · Available in Shelter Meet Sadie Sink, a bright, energetic Husky with a big personality and an even bigger love for adventure. True to her name, Sadie brings a bold, expressive energy everywhere she goes. She is playful, curious, and always ready to see what’s on the other side of the fence, the trail, or the next exciting scent in the air. Sadie is highly intelligent and very treat motivated, which makes her a fun and engaging dog to work with. She enjoys learning, especially when training feels like a game, and she picks up on routines quickly. She walks on leash and enjoys being out and about, taking in the world around her with enthusiasm and curiosity. She is social with people, warms up fairly quickly, and enjoys attention and affection once she feels comfortable. After activity and stimulation, she is content to settle down nearby and relax with her person. Like many Huskies, Sadie has a high prey drive and will need an experienced, proactive home that understands how to safely manage an energetic working breed. She does best with structure, supervision, and secure handling, especially in outdoor environments. Sadie is looking for a home that is set up for success with management in mind, including secure fencing and controlled outdoor time. Due to her high prey drive and Husky breed traits, she will do best in a home with experienced handlers who understand the importance of structure, supervision, and preventing opportunities for chasing or overstimulation. A calm, predictable environment with consistent routines will help set her up for success. She is best suited for a rural or low-traffic setting where outdoor activity can be safely managed and she is not regularly exposed to high levels of foot traffic, loose animals, or close neighboring pets. In the right home, Sadie is the kind of dog who will truly shine. She is athletic, intelligent, funny, expressive, and deeply engaging. She bonds with her people and wants to be part of daily life, adventures, and activity. Sadie’s Best Qualities: ✔️ Smart, treat motivated, and highly trainable ✔️ Energetic, playful, and adventure ready ✔️ Friendly and affectionate with people ✔️ Enjoys walks, exploration, and outdoor time ✔️ High prey drive working breed with strong instincts ✔️ Thrives in structured, experienced homes Sadie is looking for someone who understands Huskies not just for their beauty and personality, but for their needs, instincts, and the importance of management and structure. In the right environment, she has all the potential to be an engaging and entertaining companion who will bring energy, personality, laughter and joy into her future home. 📍 Come meet Sadie Sink at Caroline County Humane Society (410) 820-1600 adoptions@carolinehumane.org www.carolinehumane.org
