Story
⚔️ Meet Kaneki ⚔️ Part-Time Tough Guy • Full-Time Softie • Certified Outside Enthusiast Much like his anime namesake, Kaneki may seem a little mysterious at first — but underneath it all is an incredibly sweet, sensitive soul just looking for someone he can trust. This handsome boy has mastered the art of quiet companionship and would much rather soak up affection from his favorite humans than cause any chaos. Kaneki is calm, observant, and definitely has a stubborn streak worthy of a main character arc. He does best with a kind but confident handler who understands that patience, consistency, and respect go a long way with him. Once you earn his trust? Congratulations — you’ve unlocked his true form: affectionate cuddle bug. 💥 ✨ Kaneki’s Stats ✨ 🖤 Loves pets more than treats 🌿 Absolutely obsessed with outside time 🐶 Dog selective — careful introductions recommended 🧠 Smart and responsive to training 🎭 Sensitive boy with a gentle personality 💪 Thrives with calm, confident, consistent guidance Kaneki isn’t looking for just any home — he’s looking for his perfect anime squad. Someone who understands that not every hero starts out loud and flashy. Some just need patience, love, and a little character development. And remember: 📖 “The world isn’t wrong… Kaneki just really wants to go outside.” Staff would be happy to provide more information about Kaneki’s history and help determine if he’s the right companion for your next adventure arc! 🐾

This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.- Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once they're in a home environment and have had time to decompress - Enjoys spending time with dogs who have a similar play style - Does well on a leash - Loves to learn and has great focus - especially if you have treats - so would be a lot of fun to train - Tends to be an introvert around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of dog friends; may not be comfortable at dog parks or at large, dog-friendly events (dog intro recommended) - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 45 Age: 5yrs 10mths 2wks

Story
Jade is such a sweetheart! She loved sniffing around and investigating and enjoyed the walk. She loved pets and belly rubs, enjoyed a brushing and had some cuddle time. She didn't play much with toys and didn't want any treats. She was mellow and sweet.- Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once she's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Loves toys and likes giving kisses- Does well on a leash - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip: "Jade is such a sweetheart! She loved sniffing around and investigating and enjoyed the walk. She loved pets and belly rubs, enjoyed a brushing and had some cuddle time. She didn't play much with toys and didn't want any treats. She was mellow and sweet." - Has a history of being stressed by young, noisy or busy children, but has done OK with kids who are calm and polite (mature home recommended) - Has done well with like-minded dogs and may enjoy a dog friend in her new home - Has struggled with medical handling, specifically needles, and would benefit from a veterinarian who uses Fear Free techniques This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. Story
Ruby is a stunning Husky mix with a gentle soul and wonderful manners. This beautiful girl has the softest, sweetest presence and is an absolute joy to be around. She listens well, knows commands, and truly wants to please her people. Ruby has already shown what an amazing dog she is by raising four puppies and doing a phenomenal job. She was a devoted, loving mom and has transitioned seamlessly into being a calm, affectionate companion. She loves people, does well with other dogs, and is a dream indoors. Ruby is fully house-trained, crate-trained (though she doesn’t need one), and has excellent house manners, no chewing or destructive behaviors. Outside, her playful Husky side shines. She loves to run, play, and show off her zoomies. Like most Huskies, Ruby thrives with regular exercise and mental stimulation. If bored, she may try to explore, so a secure yard and an active lifestyle are important. She has been around cats and will bark at them, but with time and guidance, this may improve. Ruby would do best with an adopter who understands the Husky breed and is ready to give her the activity, structure, and love she deserves. In return, she will be a loyal, affectionate, and truly special companion. ✨ Ruby is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventions. 💛 Adoption Fee: $200 (Local – Texas) 🚐 Out-of-State Adoption Fee: $450 (includes transport) If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, and loving Husky mix to add to your family, Ruby just might be your perfect match. 💕🐶
