Story
Fish was surrendered to us in may of this year. He was surrendered for being too playful with the older doing in the home. Fish has been going out with many volunteers and they all adore him. He is very playful, but still has a calm energy about him. He is roughly a year old and with some training and re-direction, he is bound to be your best friend!

Story
- Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once she's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Loves toys and likes giving kisses- Does well on a leash - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip: "Jade is such a sweetheart! She loved sniffing around and investigating and enjoyed the walk. She loved pets and belly rubs, enjoyed a brushing and had some cuddle time. She didn't play much with toys and didn't want any treats. She was mellow and sweet." - Has a history of being stressed by young, noisy or busy children, but has done OK with kids who are calm and polite (mature home recommended) - Has done well with like-minded dogs and may enjoy a dog friend in her new home - Has struggled with medical handling, specifically needles, and would benefit from a veterinarian who uses Fear Free techniques This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Story
Naji is a 5 to 6 year old Husky mix whose name means survivor, and it suits him well. Having spent much of his life outdoors, he is most comfortable with a mix of indoor and outdoor living and will need a patient family willing to let him adjust at his own pace. Though shy at first, Naji is a loving boy once he trusts you. He enjoys hugs, loves car rides, does well with children, and loves playing with other dogs. He would likely thrive in a home with canine companions and a family that can give him the time and understanding he deserves.

Story
Ember will be adopted through our Foster-to-Adopt program until she is spayed by our veterinarian. Participation in this program requires that she be returned to our rescue for the spay procedure once surgery appointments become available.Because of this requirement, we are currently limiting applicants to those who live within 60 miles of our rescue in De Soto to ensure timely scheduling and coordination. Our veterinary team has been extremely busy completing these procedures, and when surgery appointments open, we often need to act quickly. Coordinating returns from longer distances has proven to be challenging. To determine whether a dog has been spayed or neutered, please visit the dog’s profile on our website. Once the procedure has been completed, the profile will display “Spayed/Neutered” with a checkmark next to that designation. This notation will not appear until surgery is complete.
