Story
- Busy pup who loves to connect with people through play and other activities; will likely enjoy physical activity and mental challenges to keep their bodies and brains busy- Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once they're in a home environment and have had time to decompress - Enjoys spending time with dogs who have a similar play style - Smart boy who knows sit, shake and down- Loves going on walks and does best with a harness- Loves to learn and has great focus - especially if you have treats - so would be a lot of fun to train Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro recommended)- Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Black Weight: 54 Age: 4yrs 1mths 2wks

Story
Meet Solomon: A Loyal, Snow-Loving Companion Ready for His Next Chapter 🐾 Facebook Family, meet Solomon—a 6½-year-old Tibetan Mastiff and Husky mix with a heart as big as his bark. He joined our family in late 2018 as a pup when my son and I moved back from Tanzania to Iowa. Through every transition, Solomon has been a loving emotional support companion. Now, with my son off to college and my long workdays + commute, Solomon is feeling lonely. This is a very hard decision because we love him dearly—but we know he deserves a home where he’ll get the time, attention, and love he thrives on. 🌟 What Makes Solomon Special: 🐶 Affectionate & Loyal – He’d be an 85-pound lap dog if you let him! 🗣️ Verbal Like a Husky – He’s expressive and loves to “talk.” ❄️ Loves Iowa Winters – Playing in the snow is his absolute favorite. 🧒 Great with Kids – Gentle, playful, and protective. 🎾 Playful Spirit – Loves walks, catch, and still gets the zoomies! 🛡️ Excellent Guard Dog – Keeps “stranger dan

Story
"not the mama, NOT the mama!!" Anyone remember the cute dinosaur show from the early 2000's?? Well, we said that so many times to our "bottle baby fosters" they just didn't know what to do with us :) But they kept feeding us, waking up at all hours of the night and making sure we were fed and happy and loved..... SO, we are growing quickly and getting ready for our furever families!! Not the mama goes to the wayside when we meet you :D We are happy go lucky pups, Bear Bear is more sensitive than his sisters, he was the shyest pup but has come out of his shell, he is the one who will cuddle with you (until someone else wants to play). Sissies Lioness and Cheeta are spicy girls, loving and playful and Lioness likes to hang out behind things and then cry for help to get out.... or she cries because she is alone, OR she cries because no one has gotten her yet! Cheeta is more independent but will let you hold her and cuddle for about 10 min and then it is back to exploring and playing with her siblings :) As their foster moms, we love these little turds and pray they find the right homes for them. Active and adventurous for the girls and more laid back for Bear! ADOPT....DON'T SHOP!!! WE cannot save more without adoptions!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
CJ is a friendly Husky, appx 1.5 years old (born 2024).  He is house trained, crate trained and knows some commands.  CJ is friendly with kids of all ages and friendly with other dogs.  He is looking for an ACTIVE family and a fenced yard with a spot for him to do a little digging when he feels like it.  Here are a few more things that CJ needs: Someone familiar with huskies or high-energy breeds as he is your picture-perfect husky boy. Continued training (he's smart and wants to please!) Regular exercise - mental and physical A patient, loving person or family committed to giving him the best home possible. And did we mention he needs an active home?!  Hikers, runners or someone with a yard and time to play as he has a lot of energy. Just one more thing about CJ - he will need to be crated when you're gone because he will get into stuff if left alone.  Please apply today if you are high-energy, have an active home and love all things Husky!!  The suggested adoption donation for CJ is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Misty is brand new to us and we`re still learning about her. She`ll be going into foster this week after her spay and will stay there for a bit to learn about her. More to come on this beauty! We do think she has been mis-handled in some way, as she`s very shy and submissive until she trusts you! Very sweet girl, though - lots of promise with this one:)
