Story
This is Rocket Man. He is a 2 year old, 40 pound, Husky/Boxer Mix, He was brought in by animal control as a county stray along with 4 other dogs that all had a bit of Husky in them. He is great with other dogs and has been cat tested. He avoids cats, so he passed the test. He is treat motivated and walks well on leash as well. Rocket Man has a bit of the Husky personality in that he is aloof around new people at first. He will not come to them for a few minutes and actually avoids them for a little bit. It's just best to sit on a bench, read your book and ignore him right back. It may take a few minutes, but he will come over to see what you are doing and take a treat. That's all it takes, and he warms right up to you. He would do best with another dog in the family. It is a joy to watch him playing with other dogs. It's all out run and fun! He has great dog social skills and would be a great pal looking for a friend to their other dog. He needs a fenced area as he will take off if he doesn't know you well. It took almost 20 minutes in the bark park session before the photographer witnessed the reason for the Humane Society volunteers awarding Rocket Man’s descriptive name. He performed a dash and a zip and a zoom as he took a quick “check it out” tour of the park. At the end of the excursion, 2-year-old Rocket Man settled back into his easy-going personality and shared his disarmingly endearing smile with all the visitors in the bark park. Then Rocket Man turned his attention to a flying squeaky and accomplished a perfect Boxer stare down of an always in season Christmas Elf. Rocket Man is in tip-top shape, weighing only a svelte 39-pounds and easily convinced the squeaky to contentedly surrender. Join him as he gazes at you through his sky-blue eyes with a mischievous grin showing on his face which lets you know that he is silently singing…. ”I’m a Rocket Man……………”

Story
He came to us with no name — just a scared, shaking soul who didn’t understand what was happening. Dylan spent his life on a farm, never knowing what a leash was or what life beyond that place could be. When the family moved, he was brought to us. If we did not have room, they were going to leave him with the new owner to deal with. Now here he is at the shelter… confused, terrified, and looking for places to hide, hoping to go unnoticed. But we see you, sweet boy. We gave you a name — Dylan — because every soul deserves to be seen, to be known, and to have a name. Dylan wants so badly to be brave and loved; he just doesn’t know how yet. With time, patience, and gentle hearts, we know this boy will come out of his shell and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. ❤️
