Story
Cardie was pulled from the local shelter on August 3, 2025. She was placed in a foster home with other dops, At first she tried to be dominant. Once she realized she was safe, she fit in and plays nicely with all of the other dogs. Cardie is very loving and thrives on attention. She responds well to commands and redirection. Story
Hello, gorgeous humans!I am named Afina, which means `blueberry` in Romanian. My eyes may be strikingly blue, but my mood is never, ever blue as long as there are smells to smell or games to play. One of the ladies at Safe Haven saved me when I was playing a game of `Frogger` in traffic in front of the Safe Haven thrift store. I am a very confident and active husky mix that was born around 8-11-2021. I love training with my friends at the sanctuary (if they have good enough treats), and I know how to sit, lay down, stand, and turn in a circle! (Both ways, even!) For some reason the people at Safe Haven put a leash on me to go on walks instead of just letting me run around like I want to, but I’m starting to get used to it. I am very excited to meet more new people and do all kinds of fun, active things with my new family. Very affectionately yours,Afina Note from Safe Haven: Afina has lived with other dogs but is always separated eventually due to her domineering behavior. Her leash manners are improving, although they still have plenty of room for improvement. Afina is looking for a home with clear boundaries where she will get lots of exercise and training.

Story
Juneau (born around April of 2024) is a young silver black Siberian husky with boundless energy who came to Safe Haven after she was found as a stray. She loves humans and enjoys interacting with other dogs as well. Juneau likes to go on walks with our volunteers, search for treats in our ball pit, and cool off in her kiddie pool. She is looking for a forever family who will provide lots of interaction and activity for her high energy levels and be patient with her as she learns the rules of living in a home.

Story
Caruso was running around our small community of Radium Springs, NM. He originally had a piece of rope tied around his neck but that somehow disappeared. No one could get close to him or catch him but I kept going around to him and giving him treats and eventually was able to get a slip lead around his neck. He is very loving and so far has gotten along with other dogs at my rescue. He does not dig out or jump the fence but if he gets loose he will run away and it takes at least an hour to catch him. I am looking for a great home for him in a cooler climate since it is very hot here in Southern NM. Fortunately I have a barn with kennels that has air conditioning and heat, but he loves to be outside so I have misters and pools in all my play yards. I love him dearly but would love to find a loving fun-filled home for him in a much cooler climate.
