Gibson is a handsome Shepherd/Husky mix with a bit of an independent streak and plenty of natural curiosity. He came to us through Northern Transitional Dog Rescue after being transferred from Saskatoon Dog Rescue, and we’ve been getting to know this interesting guy a little better. Gibson does have some prey drive, so a home without cats or other small animals would be the safest fit. He also prefers a smaller social circle when it comes to other dogs. He can be playful and engaged with the right canine friend, particularly females, but becomes overwhelmed when there are more than one or two dogs around. With male dogs, he tends to be more avoidant. Gibson also has a wandering streak. During his time on a farm, he wanted to explore and would chase wildlife like coyotes and deer when he spotted them. He did very well with a boundary collar, though, and once he understood where his boundaries were, he stayed put without issue. He’s a dog who will do best with someone who understands his quirks and can give him the right balance of freedom, structure, and companionship. For the right person, Gibson has the potential to be a pretty fantastic adventure buddy.
