Meet Gordo 🐾 Gordo is a 1-year-old Jack Russell mix weighing approximately 16 pounds. He came to us after being surrendered by a neighbor of his previous owner, and while we're still getting to know him, one thing is clear—this little guy has a lot of potential and a lot of love to give. Gordo can be a bit nervous when meeting new people and experiencing new situations. We suspect he may not have had much socialization in his early life, so unfamiliar things can be a little scary for him. Because of this, he will do best with a patient adopter who understands the importance of allowing him to move at his own pace. Slow introductions, gentle handling, and plenty of reassurance will help him build confidence and trust. With time, consistency, and lots of TLC, Gordo is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion. Beneath his shy exterior is a sweet dog who simply needs someone willing to show him that the world isn't such a scary place. Gordo arrived with his bonded companion, Blanca, and they share a very special connection. We would love to see them adopted together. They provide comfort and security for one another, and keeping them together would help make their transition into a new home much easier. If you have a calm home, a patient heart, and room for two deserving dogs, Gordo and Blanca could be the perfect pair to join your family.

BDRR rescued me from Puerto Rico and I am ever so thankful. I am a very sweet and happy girl that is looking for my furever home. I have a condition known as Intention Tremors. An intention tremor is a tremor that becomes obvious and often exaggerated as the need for precise movement increases. In my case it happens most under times of stress, ie loud noise. For example lots of barking in the kennel environment get very overwhelming for me and trigger the tremors. What does a tremor look like? Well, I shake a bit all the way from my nose to the tip of my tail. The exact cause is not quite known, but it is possible that my mom was sick during pregnancy and I was exposed. It is something I could grow out but we don't know for sure. Our medical team will be happy to talk to you in more detail about my wiggly nature. I am best suited to a quiet and loving home. A home without young children will be best suited as loud noises and lots of commotion bring on my tremors.

Hi! My name is Barbarita. I was rescued in Puerto Rico before arriving here at the Big Dog Ranch Rescue. I am super friendly and an overall happy girl. You would never know that I was attacked by a group of dogs prior to arriving at the rescue in Puerto Rico and as a result I have numerous scars and 30+ stitches on my body. Despite all of that, I am truly full of joy! I love to play with other small dogs, like myself, and I think that I'd thrive in a home with younger children who I can play with. I'd be a great pick for a first time dog owner, and while I would like to live in a home with a large yard, I think that I would be just fine living in a smaller environment, like an apartment. I could easily live either a busy or a quiet lifestyle with my new family. I like to greet new visitors, but can sometimes be protective of my people and my space. I could benefit from continued training, including help with potty-training, but I'll pick everything up quickly once I'm in a home with people I love!
