Let's get Elsa a wonderful home! Elsa is a Jack Russell Terrier mix who is about two years old. She is full grown and weighs 16 pounds. She is crate trained and has not had any accidents in her foster's home so we think that she is housetrained. Elsa seems to not have been around many people when she was growing up so she is still getting use to being handled. She loves to play with her people and LOVES treats and is learning to sit nicely for them. She is slowly learning to let people pet her, but she is more focused on play time than anything else. She does GREAT with other dogs and we think that she will do well with kids. She has not been around cats so we do not know how she would do with them. She MUST have a fenced in yard that is appropriate for her size and she would do best with a family who is home most of the time to work on her socialization. She does not know how to walk on a leash, but she is learning. Elsa is HIGH energy and is always, always on the go! Elsa loves to horde all of the toys and her foster has to go and get them from wherever Elsa has decided to drop them for the day (usually the patio love seat). When she is not carrying toys around, she is usually playing chase with her foster siblings. House-trained/Crate-trained: I am fully house-trained and crate-trained, although my foster parents leave me out of the crate when they are not around. I spend most of my time sleeping anyways.Dogs/Cats/Children: I would prefer to be the only dog in the home. I also don’t like cats very much. I have never been around children inside a home but I have met a couple on walks and I seem to like them. Energy Level: Low energy but I enjoy going on short walks. Before FAR/My History: Before coming to FAR, I was surrendered due to a cancerous mass. Since then, I have undergone three surgeries to remove the masses. The vet mentioned that there is still a possibility that the cancer may have spread to other parts of my body. There is also a possibility that the cancerous masses that were removed will come back. The type of cancer I have is an aggressive form of doggy breast cancer. However, I have been doing well and have been gaining weight under the care of my foster parents. Things I like: Cuddles, treats, and getting love. Things I don’t like: Loud noises.Ideal Family/Home: I am a senior dog with special needs, but I am still a loving and sweet companion. They are Jack Russell (JRTs)mixes who came in to our rescue August 2020. Benji is 5 years old and has a tan coat. Bear is 4 years old and has a black coat. They are lost without each other. They like belly rubs and love food. They are true to JRT disposition. JRTs are prey animals. They were bred to hunt small animals. For this reason, absolutely no cats can come in contact with these two. JRTs are also prone to overeating and getting chubby. They have been on specialty dog food to keep their weight at an appropriate level. They see themselves as alpha dogs. They do not like other dogs. We also do not recommend small children around them. They need a home with no other animals and no children under 10. They need a patient, but consistent owner to help them adapt to new surroundings.
