Story
Sweet little Bea was running around rural Georgia with her sidekick for several weeks after apparently being dumped. Everybody in the area said they were friendly, but no one knew them so they called animal control. The girls were very bonded at first, but we feel like their first love is people. They want to love people and be loved so badly but when they didn’t have any people, they became very attached to each other. Her sidekick has now found her forever home and it’s Miss Bea’s turn now. She’s exceptionally sweet and outgoing. She loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She also loves to snuggle on the couch. Bea is 22 pounds and between four and five years old. WE ARE ONLY GUESSING AT HER BREED! She does not really have a JRT temperament but she has the size and cute little short tail. She is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm tested negative. She appears to be a very healthy and happy girl. She had a couple of accidents the first day in her foster home but now she’s doing very well with house training if you would like to be Miss Bea’s hero and the center of her world, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or Dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send you our information and application. Story
It's been a LONG, EXPENSIVE road to get Princess ready for adoption but she is sooo worth it! GET OUT THE TISSUES AND READ ON! We get intake requests that we cannot help every day but this girl hit us hard! Princess recently lost both of her elderly owners. At a time that must have been already so stressful to her, the family took her to a crowded, rural, overwhelmed shelter where she was terrifed and looked down the road expecting someone to come back for her. When staff noticed a mass on her back leg and blood in her urine, they knew the chances of her making it out alive were slim. They told us that animals at this shelter don't go to the vet for medical care; they go for euthanasia. So many shelters are overwhelmed right now and even healthy dogs are being euthanized for space. I don't know why Princess' story hit me so hard but I just started crying. It's just something about the older dogs who lose their families that breaks my heart. Thank goodness for our foster families! One of our best offered to save Princess without hesitation! Princess was treated for a terrible urinary tract infection and had surgery to remove the mass. Unfortunately, the surgery site did not heal well because of it's location. Princess had to go back to the vet many times to get it resutured and spent weeks in a cone! Worst of all, the mass was mast cell cancer and not all of it was able to be removed. Princess is a kind dog who is a little nervous at times and loves the security of her crate. She is great with all of the dogs in her foster home and still has so much love to give. Princess is around 7-8 years old and weighs bout 30 pounds. She takes a benedryl daily to help control the growth of mast cells. More tumors may develop and there is no way to know what her lifespan may be but it's possible that she will live for several more years. Let's find a family who will truly treasure this precious girl! A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Princess, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Meet Lacey, a sweet and playful JRT/Chihuahua mix who loves to be right by your side, especially enjoying cozy moments laying on the couch. She adores belly and chest rubs but prefers her feet not to be touched. Lacey is a silly girl with lots of personality, and she gets the zoomies when outside, showcasing her energetic side. She’s gentle when accepting treats, but doesn't enjoy being left alone. Lacey enjoys playing with small toys and does very well going potty outside, though she’s not a fan of snow or rain. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who loves to be close, Lacey might be the perfect match! updated 01/28/26

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Moose found himself in the shelter when a new puppy in the home wasn't to his liking. He has been in foster care at Camp Merricks and has proven to be a good house guest. He does have a little resource guarding, but it is manageable. Moose is allowed to have his preferred toys, chew bones and treats in his crate, or in a dog bed away from other dogs. Otherwise, he is pretty indifferent to other dogs as long as they aren't jumping on him and pulling at him. Moose walks on leash okay, though he prefers to just be a home body. He has learned his crate is where he gets food and will readily go in it. If his new home has other dogs we highly recommend feeding in a crate. Moose seems to be housebroken as long as he is given ample opportunity to go outside and potty. He loves to beg for food, which is probably how he got VERY overweight. He is on a diet and we hope to help him shed around 10 lbs. Whoever adopts Moose will need to continue to feed him a well-regulated, healthy diet so he can continue to lose weight and remain healthy for as long as possible. He's a sweet, friendly, guy looking for a family who will appreciate him and his charm.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.    January 7, 2026, 5:49 am
