Name: Maisie Best Guess for Breed: Jack Russell terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of July 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 9.6 lbs Gets Along With: Maisie does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. Maisie would do best in a home without cats. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Maisie was rescued from a hoarding situation in South Carolina. She has not been well socialized with new people and has lived her whole life with other dogs. New nosies, cars, bikes, and other things may create fear and anxiety. She will need a patient adopter who can give her time to come out of her shell and learn that the world is a wonderful and welcoming place. And because she is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes. Are you her new chapter and forever home?What My Foster Says About Me: Hi! My name is Maisie and I am a very sweet girl ready to for a lovely lady to take me home. I even come with some favorite toys and a bed. I like to play with my dog brother a lot, but sometimes he overwhelms me since he doesn’t have an off switch! I’d prefer a home with a mature dog who is confident, since I’m pretty shy and like to lean on my brother and dog cousins for support. Before my mom got me I was in a bad place and I was never taught how to be a dog let alone be a dog in a home. But so far I am doing pretty good with my lease training, house training, and crate training. At first I was really scared of the crate since I used to live in one at the bad place and wasn’t let out enough! My mom helped me out to be okay with them now, as long as I have my soft bed and little room I will snooze in there all night with no complaints, and sometimes hop in so I can have a little space. Some of the things I love doing is: chasing the squirrels, snuggling my mom on the couch, laying at her feet chewing a bone, and getting the zoomies around her! But sometimes I get a little overwhelmed with everything and have to take a break under the couch. I would really need someone who has the time to dedicate to helping me learn that the world is a nice and safe place. My home now is quiet and calm and I love that!
