Meet Benito, lovingly called “Bennie”—a delightful Shih Tzu/Terrier mix with a whole lot of heart packed into a small frame. Estimated to be 8–10 years old, Bennie is proof that age is just a number. He’s got spunk, energy, and plenty of love to give. Bennie came through the barn doors with some pretty rough skin issues, but thanks to good care and consistency, those are healing beautifully and his coat is growing back in nicely. He’ll need regular grooming and is currently maintained on Apoquel to keep his skin comfortable. During his foster stay, we learned that Bennie is deaf—but don’t let that fool you. He’s a smart little guy who is already picking up hand signals and navigating the world just fine. He enjoys walks, happily chews on cheese sticks and bones, and is a champion couch cuddler, especially if there’s a cozy blanket involved. Bennie does great with other dogs and cats and truly just wants to be near his people. He’s the kind of dog who will quietly become your shadow and your very best friend.
