Story
Meet Tommy, a 1-2-year-old neutered male Jindo/lab mix with a handsome brown coat, weighing 16.5kg. Rescued from a city shelter, this independent yet playful boy is looking for a home that appreciates his unique personality and adventurous spirit. Tommy isn’t the type to shower strangers with instant affection—he’s more of a “cool guy” who keeps to himself at first. He won’t go out of his way to greet new people, but if you offer him a treat, he’ll gladly accept it and warm up. Once he decides you’re worth his time, he’ll let you pet him, but at the end of the day, he’s mostly interested in what he wants—food, playtime, or exploring his surroundings. Think of him as a teenage boy with a mind of his own! When it comes to other dogs, Tommy is enthusiastic and eager to interact. He approaches new friends with confidence, sometimes a bit too much! He plays well with dogs who enjoy rough-and-tumble fun, especially those his size or larger, but his bold style can be overwhelming for more reserved dogs. He tends to ignore smaller dogs and doesn’t get along well with other males who act tough despite being weaker. His experience with cats is limited, but he watches them with curiosity during walks. However, if his handler guides him away, he follows without resistance. A cat test can be arranged if needed. Tommy has a moderate energy level—he enjoys outdoor adventures but knows how to relax afterward. Since he’s still young and loves to burn off energy, he’d do best with an active owner who can keep up with his playful spirit. Off-leash, Tommy has his own agenda and may not always come when called. But once on a leash, he transforms into an attentive companion, making good eye contact and engaging well with his handler. While he’s still building confidence in new environments, overall, he walks nicely and follows his person’s lead. Food is a big motivator for Tommy, and while he doesn’t guard his own meals, he’s quick to try and grab food from another dog if given the chance. If the other dog objects, a scuffle could break out, so supervision during mealtime is recommended. He’s crate-trained and generally prefers doing his business outdoors. If you’re looking for an adventurous and playful companion who brings both independence and charm, Tommy might just be the perfect fit for you! Story
Guksoo is still looking for a loving family He is currently fostered in Barrie, ON. Guksoo is a neutered Jindo mix boy who is about 4 years old.He can be shy at first, but slowly warms up over time, and tends to trust women more than men. Deep down he loves people and wants to be with them all the time! When he first came into his foster home, he was very shy but would timidly ask for pets by slowly pawing at the humans. Now, he has become more social and will come up to strangers with a wagging tail to ask for pets and treats! He still continues to paw at his foster parents when he wants attention, and loves to snuggle and give kisses first thing in the morning. He is okay and gentle with kids, but can be startled by sudden movements. After some time, good food, and lots of walks, he will open up and give you lots of kisses and hugs When it comes to other dogs, Guksoo LOVES to play! And especially loves girl dogs. He loves to run and play with his doggy friends and is excited to play with both new and familiar friends. With his foster sibling, he loves to groom her and give her lots of kisses. However, he is still learning that not all dogs like to play, especially on leash, and he can get a bit frustrated when he sees another dog on a walk that he cant say hi to. He is learning how to be neutral to other dogs while walking and responds well to his handler. He has a medium energy level, he loves going for walks and exploring, and rests well once at home. He has a low prey drive and ignores cats when he meets them while on walks, but sometimes likes to chase birds and squirrels. He is currently fostered with bunnies and lived with a cat for a short time, he is very gentle with them and leaves them alone after a quick sniff. On walks, Guksoo can be a bit excited at first but will eventually relax and walk by his handler’s side, occasionally stopping to sniff. He rarely pulls unless he sees another dog or a small animal but is easily redirected. He is fully potty trained outdoors. Guksoo Rarely barks, only when a stranger knocks on the door or if something new startles him. He has no destructive behaviours and can be left alone in the home without any issues. He loves to chew and enjoys playing with his chew toys or a long lasting treat.  Will you welcome this sweet boy into your family? Story
Meet Kkotbun, a 3-year-old spayed female Jindo mix with a sleek white coat, weighing in at 12.5kg and standing 43 cm tall at the shoulder. After spending a full year in a cramped metal cage at a city shelter,  now she’s ready to find a loving forever home. Currently in Toronto Foster home! Kkotbun is a total sweetheart with people. She's affectionate, easygoing, and quick to trust—approaching both men and women with tail wags and gentle nudges. She even lets strangers pet her with no fuss and happily allows you to pick her up with your arms around her belly. While she hasn’t had close interactions with children under 13, she’s shown no reaction when passing by them on walks, suggesting she’d likely be calm and respectful in their presence.   When it comes to other dogs, Kkotbun is just as friendly. She enjoys greeting both familiar and unfamiliar pups and often invites them to play—especially if they’re similar in size. She gets along well with high-energy dogs, and even if another dog shows signs of aggression, she chooses to walk away rather than engage. Her calm, social nature makes her a joy to be around at the park or on group outings.   Cats spark her curiosity during walks, but she’s easy to redirect and follows your lead without issue. Her cat compatibility can be further tested if needed.   Kkotbun has a moderate energy level. She loves her outdoor adventures and is happy to relax quietly afterwards. She’s a confident and composed walker, unbothered by passing cars or people. While she might get excited and pull a little when something really catches her attention, she responds well to gentle guidance and frequently checks in with her human during walks with lovely eye contact.   This girl is wonderfully low-maintenance: she’s not food possessive, rarely barks, and isn’t clingy. She has a wonderfully independent streak, meaning no separation anxiety here. She’s also crate-trained, rides calmly in the car, and knows how to hop in and out of the vehicle on her own. Best of all, she’s fully outdoor potty trained.   Kkotbun is the whole package—gentle, social, independent, and just the right mix of playful and calm. She’s ready to bring joy and quiet companionship to her new home. Could she be the one for you?   Send in your application today through our website   https://adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/   She can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston etc) where we have flight volunteers. Story
Meet Ben, a handsome 5-year-old neutered male Jindo mix with a soft cream coat and a gentle soul. He weighs about 15 kg and has come a long way from his early days. Ben was taken in as a puppy by the owner who kept him confined in a kennel on a small garden plot. When the area was marked for redevelopment and there was no longer space for him, the owner planned to give him away to a dog meat dealer—but luckily, Ben was rescued just in time. Ben is somewhat shy when meeting new people, but if you offer him a treat, he will quickly warm up to you. He gradually becomes more comfortable and allows petting once he feels safe, although he doesn’t show affection right away. While he may seem aloof at first, don’t be fooled—when he sees someone he knows and loves, he gets adorably whiny with excitement. Although he hasn’t fully mastered belly-up cuddles, he greets familiar faces with a bright smile and a gentle wag of his tail. He does well with children under 13, and although he might be a bit tense at first, he can be safely picked up by supporting his belly with your arms. Ben is friendly with other dogs and is happy to greet new pups, but he doesn't jump into play right away. He gets along best with dogs that are similar in size or smaller, and he is particularly nice with younger, more excitable companions, even if they don't always respect personal space. However, he tends to feel overwhelmed by high-energy dogs and may have conflicts with dominant males. If provoked, he might react, so it's important to introduce him to new canine friends carefully. The good news is that Ben is very responsive to people and calms down quickly when guided. Ben does get excited when he sees cats and may try to chase, but he listens well to redirection. Still, because of his prey drive, a cat-free home would be the best fit for him. He has a moderate energy level and enjoys outdoor time, but once the adventure is over, he’s happy to settle down and relax. On walks, he can pull on the leash a bit but follow well his person’s lead and loves to stop frequently to sniff everything in sight—it’s all about the smells for Ben! Although he may growl a bit over food around other dogs, he's perfectly gentle with people during mealtime. Ben is not a barker, rides calmly in a crate, and knows how to hop in and out of the car on his own. He prefers to do his business outside If you’re looking for a loyal, quiet, and steady companion who reveals his affection slowly but deeply, Ben could be the perfect fit for your home.   View more photos and videos on Facebook (Link to Post) or Instagram (Link to Post) Does Ben sound like the right companion for you? Send in your application today here or through our website:adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/ AKR dogs can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston, etc) where we have flight volunteers. Story
Meet Bappul, who has a sweet and affectionate personality and a heart full of love. He is a 5-month-old neutered male Jindo mix with a beautiful white coat, currently weighing 6.7kg. Bappul was found alongside his four siblings on a hillside in South Korea this past February, and he is now looking for a forever home! Bappul is a friendly companion who enjoys the company of both familiar faces and new acquaintances. While he has recently started to bark at strangers, he quickly warms up within about five minutes, revealing his cautious yet curious nature. He interacts well with children under 13, and he is comfortable being gently hugged and lifted by placing your arms under his belly. Once he feels comfortable, he happily shows his belly as a sign of trust. Bappul approaches unfamiliar dogs politely, though he may not engage in play immediately. Given a little time, he becomes more relaxed and enjoys socializing. He tends to prefer one-on-one or small group interactions over large gatherings. Generally, he feels more at ease with dogs of similar or smaller size, as larger dogs can make him a bit nervous. Bappul has experience living with cats and genuinely enjoys their company — a great fit for households with feline companions! While Bappul gets playful zoomies with his favorite friends, he tends to be quite relaxed when alone, often opting for naps. For a puppy, he exhibits a notable level of calmness. Bappul does have a tendency to pull on the leash, but he responds well to guidance and follows his human’s lead. He’s very interested in exploring scents, often stopping to sniff around during walks. Bappul isn’t possessive over food and doesn’t have a strong appetite. He is generally quiet and composed, only barking in specific situations, such as when a cat he lives with displays hostility towards him. Recently, he has started barking when he hears the doorbell. He’s calm when placed in a crate and uses outdoor spaces for bathroom breaks during the day and indoor pads at night. If you are looking for a gentle, friendly companion, Bappul could be the perfect addition to your family! ##2382150##

Story
Meet Dough, a sweet 7-month-old neutered male Jindo mix with a soft beige coat and a heart full of sunshine. Weighing 8kg, Dough was born to his mom Tenne, who had been tied up outside a home where she gave birth to three pups. When the owner could no longer care for them, Dough and his family were surrendered — and now this lovable pup is ready for a fresh start. Dough is as friendly as they come. He’s eager to meet people, whether they’re familiar faces or brand-new friends, and he’ll happily lean in for pets and belly rubs. Because his original owner was a man, he’s comfortable with both men and women, and he’s been wonderful with young children under 13. He even lets people lift him by tucking an arm under his belly — and yes, he’ll show his belly to strangers, too! This cheerful little guy is a social butterfly with other dogs. Dough approaches every pup with curiosity and enthusiasm, even if they grumble at him — he’s too optimistic to take offense! While he might bark at larger dogs behind a fence, he’s all tail wags and friendliness when meeting them face to face. Whether the dog is energetic or mellow, Dough adapts easily, and as long as the other dog isn’t aggressive, he’s ready to be friends. During walks, he may show interest in cats from a distance, but he follows his person’s lead without issue. He’s curious but respectful, and he’ll come back when called. A home cat test can also be arranged. Dough has a moderate energy level — he enjoys outdoor fun and playtime but settles down nicely afterward. After a good walk or romp, he’s happy to nap or play quietly indoors. That said, if a person walks into the room, Dough’s tail (and spirit) spring right back to life. He’s come a long way with his leash skills — from freezing in place to now enjoying walks and responding well to his handler’s voice. Occasionally he’ll try to lead the way out of curiosity, but he’s so responsive that it’s easy to guide him back. Dough doesn’t guard food from people or other dogs, though he’s not above stealing a yummy snack if he sees the chance! Even when another dog takes his food, he doesn’t get upset. He’s typically quiet, and while he might whine a little at first in his kennel, he quickly settles down. He still needs help getting into cars, preferring to be carried, but he travels well without getting carsick. He does his business outdoors during the day and uses pee pads at night, showing great progress with his potty training. Dough is a happy, adaptable pup with endless love to give. All he needs now is a home to grow up in. Send in your application today through our website https://adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/ He can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston etc) where we have flight volunteers.
