Story
This beautiful lady is Kumi, an American Akita, between 6-8 years old. After spending the last four months with foster parents (who immediately fell in love with her) she is a happy, healthy girl with lots of love and energy to spare. She does have a few patches where her coat is still filling in resulting from malnutrition issues. Kumi’s favorite things include being outside (playing, running or just basking in the sun), car rides and rope toys (she is a champ at tug of war). Kumi is a very loving dog. She is a little skeptical of public places and doesn’t want to do much with strangers. Fortunately, you’re only a stranger until you walk into her home and then you are her BEST friend! Kumi knows basic commands and is eager to show them to you . . . if you have a treat. Proper dog introductions are a must for Kumi. She can be a little grumpy with other dogs. She gets along well with dog savvy cats. Sometimes she gets excited and will chase them but has never hurt them. She has not been tested around kids. Kumi’s new family will need to make sure she gets help with leash and obedience training. While Kumi is a very good girl, she can be very stubborn and would prefer to do things her way and not listen to the two-legged members of the pack. She really doesn’t like to be left alone and will break out of kennels, so long hours alone every day may be a problem. She would benefit from a home where someone in the family works part time or works from home. Kumi is a special girl who is willing to be your buddy on walks and hikes, play with you until she tires you out, and cuddle up next to you on the couch in the evening. She will require consistency and some additional training, but trust us, she is more than worth it. Kumi has been spayed, is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm, and has been microchipped. You can visit at the PetSmart in Salt Lake City, (389 W. 1830 S.) the third Saturday of every month from 11 am - 2 pm. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello I'm T.P! I know what you're thinking, she looks just like a bear cub! My foster mom thinks I am a Chow/Shiba Inu mix. I look just like a miniature Chow with a Shiba tail! I take time to warm up to people but once someone has put in the time to ear n my trust I am loving and loyal to them. These breeds are incredibly adorable and are  often adopted because of how cute they are without people truly understanding the breed. My foster mom (a dog trainer) has put together an impressive list of criteria to narrow down ALL the applications we are sure to receive for me! I am a 6 months old, female red Chow chow/Shiba Inu mix who currently weighs around 30lbs. I am very shy and need time to warm up to a person. When I do approach people, it needs to be my choice - which means no little kids. I'm looking for a very special home that can provide the following. - An experienced dog owner that has had chows/shiba's previously or someone who has really dedicated effort into learning about these two primitive breeds, is not a first time dog owner and is prepared to raise a mix of difficult dog breeds. T.P needs to be in a home where her person will know how to be reliable with providing structure and implementing management. She needs someone that will appreciate her traits but will tell her no when needed. - No other dogs in the house, she will do best being the only dog. - Time and Resources. T.P is a mix of tricky breeds that require an upkeep of structure, management and grooming so continuing training will be a must for her. T.P's foster mom has done great work with training and her potential adopters will need to be caught up to speed on what she knows and how to help her succeed in her new home. - Someone that is not going to allow for other dogs to invade her space and will advocate for her and work towards dog neutrality. She is not a dog that will enjoy people or other dogs getting into her space. - No children If you're interested in meeting T.P to see if she could be the perfect little fluffy companion for you, apply at  https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 5:29 pm
