Story
Gilligan (A134539) is an 8-week-old malamute x shepherd x hound mix who weighed around 10lbs at intake!05/13/24 These wonderful little pups are hoping you'll take them for more than just a three hour tour! These little castaways were said to be a mixture of malamute, german shepherd and hound. Their mother, Lillith, is a german shepherd-redbone hound mix who was also brought to the shelter. Puppies are a lot of work, but they make up for it with cuteness and love! If you are interested in taking home one of these sweet little kiddos, please give the shelter a call!May 18, 2024, 10:48 pm

Story
Khany (A133017) is a 1-year-old chow x akita mix who weighed just over 60lbs at intake!05/11/24 This exuberant young lady is Khany! Khany arrived at the shelter after her owner experienced some medical issues that prevented them from caring for her. Khany is still a puppy and needs help with learning some manners. Enrolling her in a basic obedience class with a certified trainer would be a great place to start! Khany has been very friendly and outgoing with every human she has met since arriving at the shelter. She has most likely not had much experience with other dogs, so please make sure to do all introductions slowly and appropriately to allow for the best possible outcome. Khany previously lived with another dog, but she has been wary when faced with other dogs in the shelter, particularly the loud ones. So far she has made very good choices, and we believe she will become more comfortable with proper socialization. If you have never introduced two strange dogs before, Fear Free Pets has some wonderful resources to help guide you! Khany has a lot of energy and still has some puppy behaviors, so having appropriate outlets for her energy and chewing will help set her up for success! If you are interested in meeting Miss Khany, please give the shelter a call!May 18, 2024, 10:48 pm

Story
Bear (A134427) is a 4-year-old AK Malamute who weighed 86.8 pounds on intake! 5/8/2024 This big chill fellow is Bear! Bear arrived at the shelter as a stray and defaulted to the borough. During his stray wait he has been such a gentleman! Bear has done an excellent job at keeping his kennel clean, accident free, indicating that he may already be housebroken. He also walks very nicely on a leash. We have found that he thoroughly enjoys lying outside in the sun but seems to also do well inside! Since he was a stray, we do not know if he has any history with children or other animals. Please ensure you are doing slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new animals. If you are unfamiliar with Malamutes, we encourage you to research the breed prior to adopting. If you think that Bear could be the right fit for you, please let us know! May 18, 2024, 10:48 pm
