Story
Ellen Griswold showed up as stray in the small, rural town of Wortham, Texas, just in time for the holidays. Unfortunately Ellen, and all the animals at the shelter, have little prospects as the shelter does little to no adoptions. There is a small group of individuals in Wortham that work tirelessly to network (and vet, on a very limited budget) these animals to foster-based rescues in and out of Texas that are willing to consider them. Red Fern was contacted by one of these volunteers who, together with her high school daughter, go to the holding facility every day to walk the dogs, socialize them, take them to the vet, and just spend quality time with them. Ellen had a litter of several puppies, sadly only two survived due to predators. She's very protective of her last two. This dutiful Mum carries her food bowl to the more scared puppy. Mum Ellen is sweet and friendly once she is comfortable with you and we don't blame her. Ellen likes attention, but does not demand it. She prefers the open yard over her kennel- a true outdoorswoman. Potty trained: Possibly Crate trained: Unknown  Leash trained: Yes Ellen Griswold is patiently waiting at the shelter in Wortham, Texas for someone like you to invite her up, not for vacation, but furever. Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2594592##
