Story
Location: Calgary, Alberta// Breed: Lab mix// Age: Approx 6-7 years old// Size: 60lbs// Sex: Neutered Male// Energy Level: Medium/Low// Cats: Not known - likely no// Dogs: Yes// Kids: Older kids preferred// Adoption fee: $550// Meet Toby: Your Chill Sidekick in a Fluffy Tan Suit If serenity had four paws and a wagging tail, it would be named Toby. This 7-year-old lab mix is 60 lbs of pure soul, sunbeam naps, and quiet companionship. He’s sweet, gentle, and easy-going—a true “low-maintenance love bug.” Toby isn’t flashy. He’s not Instagram-famous. But he is that dog who will sit quietly beside you on the porch, hike happily by your side, and curl up on the couch like he’s always been there. He’s the best kind of loyal: calm, content, and never demanding. ✅ Apartment-approved (quiet, calm, non-destructive) ✅ House-trained & crate-trained ✅ Great with medium/large dogs ✅ Excellent hotel roommate (yes, really!) ✅ Photogenic (he poses for pics!) ✅ Sunbather. Snuggler. Shadow. Toby enjoys the little things—soft beds, casual strolls, warm laps—and hopes for a home that values those too. He gets along with other chill dogs, but small animals (cats, tiny dogs) rev up his curiosity too much. He’s not aggressive, just very interested. So a home without small pets would be best. He’d thrive in a home that appreciates his calm nature—maybe with older kids, a relaxed vibe, and people who love to include their dog in everyday life. He’s come a long way from his days as a stray and shelter pup. Now, he’s just waiting for his soft landing. If Toby could speak, he’d say: “I don’t need much—just someone to love and a place to call home. I promise to be your gentle, grateful companion for all the quiet moments and simple joys.” To meet Toby, submit an application on our website: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form
