Star, as in SUPER STAR!  Sometimes we are just left to wonder how such a great dog was surrendered to the shelter.  In Star’s case, we know it’s because her previous owner just didn’t want to put up a fence or find a containment solution to keep her from wandering, so he surrendered her and her little friend a Jack Russell.  While the Jack Russell found a home quickly, Star spent 3 long months in the shelter waiting for her chance at a new start.  Alas, her day came and she was swooped up just in time to spend Thanksgiving with her new foster family!  This girl is fun loving and super sweet!  She will greet you with a smile and wagging tail.  Her favorite activities are playing fetch, eating, spending time with her people, and getting pets.  She is even really good at bringing the ball to you and dropping it so you can throw it again.  Star is house broken and crate trained, she gladly sleeps quietly in her crate all night and she has excellent house manners.  She walks well on and off leash alongside her people.  Star appreciates that her new owners may need to work in order to afford the food, toys, occasional vet visits, dog friendly vacations etc. and she will gladly hang out quietly in the fenced yard during the day waiting for you to get home from work; where she will greet you with that smile, wagging tail, and a toy ready for fetch! Star is 3 to 4 years young, spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and healthy (other than a little extra weight which will be manageable with continued diet and exercise).  She gets along well with other dogs; especially small ones and she loves people of all sizes.  There are no cats in her foster home so it is uncertain how she would be, but she has not displayed a strong prey drive so a dog savvy cat might be a possibility.  If you are looking for a dog that is past the puppy stages of chewing, digging, and housebreaking, complete your application for this lovable girl today! www.labrescuefresno.org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Looking for someone tiny but mighty? If so, then Trinket may be your girl. This sweet little lab mix came into care when her owners living situation did not allow animals where they lived. Unfortunately, they found this out AFTER they got sweet Trinket. As they were heading into the local shelter to drop her off, fate stepped in. There happened to be a lady in the parking lot who works with a local rescue that intercepted the handoff and brought her to the defender of dogs. Crisis averted! Now Trinket is looking for her forever family. Could that be you? Trinket is like a blank slate. She is learning how to be inside, sleeping in the crate, what toys are and how to play with others. Needless to say, she is a quick learner but as with all puppies, she will benefit from training and consistency in order to become your perfect companion. Her energy level is a 6-7 and she plays well with her four-legged foster sister. There are no cats or kids in her current home but she is said to be cat tolerant and kid friendly. She has already mastered the art of stealing her fosters heart as she is such a cuddle bug. Trinket is up to date on shots, spayed and chipped so all she needs is for someone to open up their heart, home and love her forever.  If you are interested in finding out more about Trinket, please fill out an adoption application at our website: labrescuefresno.org or if you already have an application in, simply reply to the volunteer who responded initially, follow the directions in red and ask for Trinket!!   If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Me: I am the quintessential young Labrador! A love bug who has a passion for good food, belly scratches, cuddles, and above all A BALL! I am in search of loving forever family. You: Loving forever family who can provide lots of good food, attention and exercise, some belly scratches, a happy safe indoor life and above all A BALL for your furry companion forever. Must also provide lots of snacks. Me + You = True Love!!!  It is a tale as old as time…cute puppy grows bigger, no one pays attention to him anymore, he gets relegated to the back yard, doesn’t get neutered and starts looking for love in all the wrong places. I am one of the lucky ones though. I found some nice people and although they tried hard to find my family, my family never showed up to take me home. Their loss I say! That’s when they contacted those amazing Defenders of Dogs at LRRF who took one look at me and knew I had so much potential if given a chance to shine. Um, did I mention I like balls? Oh yeah, I guess I did – well let me tell you I can catch them with the greatest of ease. I am a super star ball fetcher and I even bring it back… Ok I might not give it up right away but… well, it’s a BALL. Oh and I like stuffies too! I like carrying them around and if you throw them like a BALL I will fetch that as well. Did I mention I’m talented? Knock, knock – who’s there? Dagwood! Dagwood who? Dagwood wants his ball! I love people large and small and get along with other dogs. I’m a little too keen on cats so a cat-less home is probably best. I am kennel trained and love to go swimming in a pool, a lake, the ocean, I’m in! Just make sure and bring my ball. Not gonna lie, we are learning leash manners because I was not previously walked so it was new to me. I am smart and want to please so learning for me is not hard, especially with a treat reward. Dagwood is a typical high-energy Labrador pup and will need regular exercise and a family who is committed to attending training classes with him to ensure a lifetime of good behavior. An active family is best for him with children a bit older because of his exuberance.  If you would like to make this adorable guy a member of your family, apply to adopt today at www.labrescuefresno.org And from all of us, to all of you please adopt, spay/neuter and educate others not to buy dogs from backyard breeders or puppy mills.
