Story
F - 2 years old - Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier Mix - Violet is a high-energy, joyful girl who wakes up ready to go. She’s bouncy, wiggly, and always scanning the room for her next toy, adventure, or play session. If there’s fun to be had, Violet is already in the middle of it. She’s playful, goofy, and a little mouthy - just in that young, overexcited, still-learning-her-manners kind of way. When she’s amped up, she may use her mouth to grab at toys (or try to involve your hands in the fun), so she’ll benefit from continued training and redirection. The good news is that she's smart, eager, and very motivated to engage. At just two years old, she’s still polishing her skills and would thrive in an active home that can match her energy, provide structure, and keep her both mentally and physically stimulated. With consistency and outlets for her zoomies, Violet is an incredibly loyal, fun-loving companion. ADOPT To adopt, come see us! We're open for walk-ins Tuesday - Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM with adoptions closing at 4:30 PM each day. When she's calm, she enjoys leaning into her people and soaking up pets, showing off her affectionate, trusting, and sweet nature. Blossom is looking for a family who can match her energy, give her plenty of exercise, and share in her love for playtime and cuddle time. ADOPT To adopt, come see us! Koa lives for affection — she’ll happily sit on your foot, slowly slide to the floor, and dramatically flop over to demand belly rubs. One of her many nicknames is “Speed Bump,” and once you meet her, you’ll understand why. Koa loves to play fetch and tug and is often found proudly walking around the house with a ball in her mouth. She’s also an avid chewer and enjoys moose and deer antlers (no rawhide here!), which has helped keep her teeth impressively clean. At bedtime, Koa settles right in, sleeping through the night on her bed after enjoying her nightly treat. She walks well on leash, especially with her foster brother Ricky, and enjoys playing with dogs her own size. Koa is social, affectionate, and happiest when she’s near her person — following her foster around the house and yard and laying close whenever possible. Koa’s journey hasn’t been easy. Her former owner did not address her ongoing pain and discomfort until it became an emergency, at which point Lab Rescue stepped in. Koa was suffering from bladder stones that required urgent surgery. She underwent surgery over Thanksgiving and spent a week hospitalized, followed by several months of medication and pain management. Thankfully, she has recovered well and is feeling so much better. Going forward, Koa will need to remain on a prescription diet to prevent the stones from recurring. At just 8 years old, this sweet senior still has plenty of pep in her step. Koa is simply looking for a comfortable home, consistent care, and people who will love her the way she deserves. If you’re interested in learning more about sweet Koa, please fill out an application at: www.labrescuefresno.org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Meet your new best friend. This handsome white Lab mix is just 1 year old, about 40 pounds, and ready for the loving future he has always deserved. Though his past wasn’t kind to him, it hasn’t touched his gentle spirit. Beneath it all is the sweetest, most tender heart — a boy who simply wants to love and be loved. Dexter is incredibly cuddly and happiest when he’s curled up close to his person, soaking in the safety and comfort he missed before. He walks beautifully on leash without pulling, as if he’s just grateful to be by your side. Playtime with his toys brings out his joyful, puppy side, and his bright mind makes him a quick learner who truly wants to please. Like many young dogs, he has a playful spark and will flourish with an active home that can give him exercise both mentally and physically, guidance, and structure. Once he bonds with you, it’s with his whole heart. His loyalty runs deep. Because of his difficult past, he can struggle at times with being left alone. He will thrive in a home where someone is around more often, or with a family dedicated to continuing his journey toward confidence and security. More than anything, Dexter just needs reassurance that he’s finally safe — and that this time, it’s forever. If you’re searching for a devoted companion who will look at you like you’re his whole world, this sweet boy may just be the one. This goofy, happy boy is full of personality and always seems to be in great spirits! About Zorro •          Great with everyone – humans, kids, cats, dogs… even goats! He treats goats just like another dog friend. •          Not an alpha – he’s easygoing and happy to let others take the lead. •          Goofy & joyful – Zorro has the cutest habit of doing a little hop straight up in the air when he gets excited because he knows he’s not supposed to jump on people. It’s hard not to smile around him! •          Leash work in progress – he’s been on leash but will benefit from continued guidance and consistency. •          House training in progress – Zorro previously lived as a kenneled dog, so he’s learning the ropes of home life and making progress every day. Zorro doesn’t seem to dislike much of anything — he approaches life with a happy, playful attitude and a heart ready to bond with his people. And don’t let those flecks of grey fool you — they just give him a little extra character and show off his mature side. He’s looking for a forever family that will continue his training, provide structure, and enjoy his sweet, silly personality as much as his foster does.  If you’d like to learn more about Zorro, please fill out an adoption application today.
