She was spotted several times running across a 4-lane highway. In the heat of Summer and in the cold of Winter she tried to survive alone. She had no home. Her life consisted of looking for something to eat and hiding from people who either shooed her away or threw things at her. Finally, during the heavy storms and more than average snow, she had to make her way down. It was freezing cold and she was skin and bones by this time. Food was scarce and she was giving up.  She would hide wherever she could and come out only to find something to eat – someone kind spotted her and left some food out. She stayed in that area of Tollhouse. Lab Rescue was contacted and we set a trap. It didn’t take long for her to be caught due to the yummy food in the trap. Finally safe February 28th. It was a long, slow process for an emaciated dog like Cookie to gain back to a healthy weight. It was also a long process for her to gain the trust of humans. Her foster worked with her daily to gain her trust. She had obviously never been in a home, nor treated with kindness or affection. Fast forward- Tollhouse Cookie is in excellent shape now. She’s healthy, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated and sassy. Little by little her confidence grew and she has blossomed into an affectionate dog who gets along with other dogs. She has learned that there are good people in this world who want her to have what every dog should have – a home, good food and the love of a human who treats her with gentle kindness. Cookie will probably always be a bit standoffish with new people. She is looking for someone who will take the time she needs to trust. Cookie’s foster Mom is looking for a family that will give Cookie time to blossom in a new environment, and who will enjoy the rewards of seeing how much she can accomplish. Cookie is crate and house-trained and is about 2 years old. She gets along with dogs but would be fine as an only dog. She does have some drive to get those squirrels so we think a home without cats is best. If you would like to know more about Cookie, please fill out an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. You have found your guy!  Pepper’s my name and charming is my game!  Add a little spice to your life by adopting me, Pepper!  You can’t go wrong adding me to your family!  I am waiting patiently! So, you are probably wondering how such a handsome guy like me found himself looking for love?  All too common of a story in this day and age – taken to the shelter when my previous owners were “moving.”  But don’t feel sorry for me, I am one of the lucky ones!  You see, I was taken in by guardians of four legged furries known to all canines as the defenders of dogs and to humans as the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno and the rest is history!   I have a loving foster home while I await finding my forever family to love!  And I should add by adopting me you free up a much-needed space to allow the rescue of an overwhelming number of dogs that need saving.  That’s rescue times two! You should know inside this handsome ebony body lies a happy heart of pure gold.  I love people of all shapes and sizes – especially ones that throw tennis balls!  Like all Labs, I love to swim, walk, and chase a ball.  I’ll get you out of the house!  Couple that with perfect house manners and stunningly handsome big boy body, you can’t go wrong!  I am just waiting here for you to come so we can start our new life!  PS.  I promise I will never drop you off at the shelter – I am loyal and true through and through!  Pepper is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno.  He is loving and good with people but prefers to be your only king of the house. He is house-trained and respectful of the home.  He loves to play fetch, swim, and go for walks.  In return, he is a happy boy who is very loyal to his people and loves to be the four-legged love of their life.   If you have room in your heart and home, you can’t go wrong with this man’s best friend dog.  If you would like to adopt Pepper, please fill out an application at our website: https://www.LabRescueFresno.Org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Her backstory: Savannah was seen roaming at large, injured with a severely broken right front leg just before the Labor Day weekend and was reported to Animal Control.  Unfortunately, she wasn’t picked up until the Tuesday after Labor Day, and by that time the broken leg had become severely infected, putting her life in grave danger.  When the team at LRRF found out about her situation, they were able to step in and commit to covering the vet bills to save her life. The best and only course of action by that time was to amputate her front leg.  After a couple of days in the hospital, she was released to her foster mom and has been on the mend ever since, learning to navigate life as a tripod. Savannah also had a prolapsed gland on her eyelid (cherry eye) which was corrected while she was spayed. Savannah is well behaved in the house, though believe it or not, counter-surfing is a habit to be addressed.  She is crate trained and sleeps contently through the night; of course, a spot on your bed would suit her just as well.  She walks well on a leash all things considered. It will take some time to learn better balance and develop muscles to travel in a straighter line.  Playing fetch and chilling with her people makes her a happy dog! As with any young lab, she will need continued training and regular exercise; she is treat motivated and very trainable.  Savannah is a healthy, active girl despite being a tripod; she is already spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and now ready to find her forever family.  If you are looking for that perfect addition to your family, one that will be by your side anytime, day or night, and is up for sharing your adventures, submit your online application at www.labrescuefresno.org. These are the eyes of someone who wants a family! The sweetest, most energetic dog! Everybody loves Monty! He looks right in your eyes, eager to be your friend. There's something very wise about this spunky, handsome, smart guy. Monty comes to Lab Rescue from a local shelter where he was found running at large and picked up by Animal Control.  Shockingly, his family didn’t come looking for him - their loss, a real family’s gain!! Monty is eager to please and his foster is working on some commands as well. At first, Monty appeared to be a much older dog, but we realized he had premature greying and the vet confirmed (he acts like a 2 year old). He appears to be housebroken, while in the kennel he will “hold it to go out”. He loves going for walks and once he has a little energy out, he walks better now. Monty loves to run like the wind (especially if you happen to have a BALL). He LOVES playing fetch, most times he even brings it back. He enjoys the company of other dogs but is more focused on people and wouldn’t mind a family where his people are home more than not. Monty is looking for an active family, with structure, who will love him and continue to work with him on his training. A home with older kids is best as he can be a rambunctious big boy.  He is truly ready for a family to continue what we have worked on. There are no cats in the foster home so we do not know how Monty would do with kitties. Like all Labs, Monty will benefit from an obedience class; and regular exercise to ensure he is the perfect dog he was destined to be. Monty would be so grateful to have somebody to love. Won’t you consider giving this sweetheart the chance to have a real home and family? If you would like to know more about Monty, please fill out an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. My name is Beau and I am so excited to meet you all!!! You can’t see it over the computer, but my tail is wagging a mile a minute! I am a happy, fun-loving Labrador and I am looking for my forever family. Could it be you? Keep reading to find out! I am a “Silver” Labrador…well, to be honest my silver fur really sets me apart from the crowd!  My gorgeous distinctive fur is not the only special thing about me – I am the goofiest, most fun, most playful fella you will ever meet! I have an unbridled enthusiasm for life. The world is full of fun and adventure – I just need to find that special family to share it with.  I love to be in the house with my people and be right by their side. Luckily for me, I found my way to those Defenders of Dogs at LRRF and now I get to be inside with my foster mom and other 4 legged doggies all the time - it is fantastic! I love to play with the ball and sometimes get zoomies my foster mom thinks is comical, oh and I like water too – I would like a family that will give me exercise and take me out and about on adventures, go to the lake, the beach wherever they want to go, I’m in. I am not sure about those feline creatures, there have never been any around.  I love to be in the house, so I’ve perfected my house manners and I sleep quietly all night in my crate. I have some commands down and walk pretty well on leash too, so I would really like to find a family that will help me continue to learn and polish up my leash skills and tricks.   Beau is a sweet big boy with an even bigger heart who is longing for a family to call his own forever. He was not properly socialized at his previous home, so he takes a bit to warm up and then you’re his buddy forever. He alerts when strangers come to the door and likes to protect his people and castle. He gets along with the other dogs in the home and is respectful of the older ones but would do better with a playmate closer to his age or he is fine being the only as well. Beau is a young guy but past the puppy crazy and has a medium energy level. This big boy will need a dog savvy family with adults in the home who will be willing to make him part of their lives to thrive. Beau, like many dogs, is not a fan of fireworks. He adores love and attention and can’t wait to share his life and love with his forever family. Would you like to add this gorgeous lovebug to your life? If so, please apply at www.labrescuefresno.org today! If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Mother Gothal is a lab/pit bull mix. She was adopted out in December, but unfortunately was brought back due to housing issues. She has a very calm demeaner but does have plenty of energy when it comes to play time. She is great on leash and loves walks. No dogs or cats! She loves the attention of people. She has not had an opportunity to meet young children, but we do think she would be okay in a family environment. If you are interested in meeting Mother Gothal, please submit an application at www.valleyanimal.org. At Valley Animal Center, our mission is to unite dogs and cats with loving people.

Story
Please help Duke! He's such a good boy and only wants love, snuggles, and to please his owner. He is a low maintenance dog. He likes short walks and to sleep on the couch or in his crate. He also does great with my 5 cats. If I cannot find him a home soon, he will have to be returned to the shelter and euthanized. Duke was picked up as a puppy by a shelter but was lucky to find a forever home. Sadly, 5 years later, that family said they couldn't take care of him any more and surrendered him back to the shelter. As a 6+ year old dog, he developed kennel stress. I stepped in and agreed to foster him while he waited for his forever home. This was 6 months ago. Duke is dog tolerant but has some conflict with my dominant dog and some scuffles have broken out. The last one has resulted in a wound but only to Duke. Duke desperately needs a home of his own before it's too late for him. He is a good boy and deserves his forever home. Please consider adopting him and being his family.
