Dove was living with her owner, who was experiencing homelessness, and she loved him with all her heart. One day, he went into a grocery store, and Dove waited at the entrance, hoping he would come back. She was scared and didn’t understand why he left, darting away when anyone tried to approach her. Hours passed, but he never returned. Her world had disappeared, and she was all alone. When Dove was finally caught and brought to the shelter, she shut down completely. The loyal little soul who had waited so faithfully was too scared to trust anyone. Thanks to the gentle patience of our volunteers, Dove is slowly beginning to open up. She’s showing glimpses of her sweet, delicate personality, a quiet, loving dog who just wants to feel safe. Dove deserves a calm, patient forever home where she can finally know love, safety, and comfort. She has waited so long for someone to care for her, and she’s ready to give her heart to the person who never leaves her behind. She hasn't learned how to walk on a leash yet, but she is getting better each time. She has a shy personality but shines in play groups. She welcomes each new dog that enters the group. She has smile that lights up the room
