Story
Sunday is a Labrador Retriever, as far as what the owner has told us. She lived in a loving home out of state when her owner moved to Bedford and sadly, life changes and her owner had to surrender Sunday. Sunday was born in March of 2023 and lived with other dogs and was raised with children. She is a lot of puppy herself. She does well in a house and walks well on a leash. Sunday deserved a lifetime of love with a family who will love and take care of her. Sunday is spayed and up to date on medical vaccines. Sunday is microchipped and BHS will register this microchip into the new owner's information. Sunday's adoption fee is $300, due to the medical and care Sunday has already received to get her to this point. Apply at bhsva.org. More medical needs are needed, see below. When Sunday came into the care of the Bedford Humane Society, we quickly realized something was terribly wrong. After a veterinary examination, we received heartbreaking news—this sweet 3-year-old girl is heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is serious and, if left untreated, it can be fatal. The good news is that heartworm is treatable, and Sunday has every chance to live a long, happy life. The difficult part is that treatment is expensive. The BHS is committed to giving Sunday that chance, but we can't do it alone. We have some funding available, but we need our community's help to cover the cost of her lifesaving treatment.

Story
Ozzie was found as a stray, so we don't know anything about him, or what his parents were. The truth is we just guess what breed might be there ... what I do see is kindness, a longing and hope ... for someone to care ... someone to love ... So he can be whatever magical boy you want him to be. The short time I have fostered Ozzie I am learning more about him everyday. I do know Ozzie is a cutie, friendly, good-natured pup brimming with puppy optimism. If you're looking for a loving boy to join your family and have time to help him learn to be a great dog then he'll repay you with a lifetime of doggy smooches. Ozzie is a large puppy at 4 months old, he weighs 25 pounds, he has a lot of growing to do, and he's going to be a big dog. Ozzie is not house trained and does tend to jump when he is excited, so remember he is a puppy with a lot to learn about life. He seems to be willing to cooperate when walking on a leash. Ozzie plays well with others puppies but hasn't been exposed to cats. Ozzie has been wormed, microchipped and his vaccinations are current for his age. Ozzie is not yet neutered, so he is not available for adoption outside of counties contiguous to Bedford County. Ozzie's adoption fee is $300.
