Story
Blitzen ... AKA Blitz ... Blitzy ... Blitzen was rescued in a group of 14 puppies. He was adopted into a loving home but sadly, was returned through no fault of his own. A family member is allergic to his dander, so the heartbreaking decision was made to find him a new home. Blitzen is a very sweet confused boy. He needs someone to take time to show him everything is going to be okay and that he is loved. Blitzen is house trained, seems to ride well in a car, but not so sure he wants to get in. He lived in a home with 2 children, walks well on a leash, but when he gets excited, (squirrel, other dog) he will pull. He is still a puppy, a big puppy. Blitzen still needs training with a firm but loving hand. I was his foster before he was adopted, he was such a gentle sweet boy and he still is. Blitzen is up to date on all his medical, microchipped, neutered and heartworm negative. All he needs now is a home. For information please call BHS at 540-586-6100, or go to https//www.bhsva.org/adoptables to fill out an adoption application.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is BeBe! Please read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. BeBe is a great example of an amazingly wonderful dog with some special needs who needs a hero to be her forever person.  BeBe is a very sweet, shy, stunningly beautiful girl with lots of love to give!  She does great in her foster home, but when she was adopted several years ago, she got loose from her new owner after just a couple of days, and she was 'on the run' for a week before she could be trapped (and returned to AAMR).  She tries so hard to make everyone happy, and she loves having a routine so she feels safe.  BeBe loves people and finding the right people, ones who understand her potential to be a 'flight risk' and who will give a little 'extra' to make her feel safe and secure, is our mission.  Her new home MUST have a physical fence to contain her.  She always uses nice house manners and is definitely an 'inside girl'. The gorgeous pup with the soulful eyes is a smart and snuggly girl!  She loves attention and lots of 'good girls' and once she bonds with you, she will be the most loyal friend you will ever have.  Could she be a snuggly addition to your family? Approximate age/birthdate:  ~ December 2013 Weight/size:  ~ 55-60 lb   Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take her out regularly  Crate trained:  YES … she finds her crate to be a safe placePersonality: a bit shy until she knows you, happy, sweet, loving Energy level:  Medium … she’s a sweet girl, and doesn't know what 'senior' means  Fenced yard required?:   YES - no exceptions - a physical fence (no underground or wireless) … she absolutely needs a place to explore and play safely off-leash.  She is timid and a definite flight risk. It is also necessary to keep the neighbor's cats and the community squirrels safe! Does he/she jump fences?  NO (but probably could if she got spooked) Leash walk:  YES Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK but does get a little nervous at first   Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES – at least with her foster siblings.  She (as with any dog) should be properly introduced to any new dogs before being allowed to run free with them  Social with cats:  NO CATS … she barks at them and we are sure she would chase them Good with children: She seems to be OK with older children as long as they are calm and gentle with her.  Again ... proper introduction is the key. Adoption donation:  $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if BeBe picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.  If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Who knew a cute pup in a plain brown wrapper would be overlooked for so long?  Could you be Joy's hero? Can you believe I was in 'doggy jail'?  I think I had a family once, but no one came to find me.  Foster Mom says 'It's their loss' ... whatever that means.  I try to be a very good girl, and most of the time I do OK, but sometimes I get really rowdy when I have other rowdy friends to play with.  And cats just bring out the worst in me.  Sorry. This sweet girl is so much fun to be around.  She’s playful, sweet, snuggly, loveable … and most days she even listens well.  She’s a very smart girl and learns quickly.  She has a little shar-pei stubborn streak but she really does care whether her people are happy or not ... until she sees a cat ... or a squirrel ... or a deer ... anything that she feels the need to chase and eliminate.  She’s mostly good with her foster siblings … although she can be a bit 'selective' when meeting new dogs.  She’s pretty even-tempered but she could definitely hold her ground if somebody else started something.  An experienced dog person and some obedience classes will do wonders to polish up this diamond-in-the-ruff! Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~2014 Weight/size: 45 lbs Housebroken:  YES Crate trained:  YES … not her favorite place to be, but she will do it Personality: happy, sweet, loving, playful Energy level:  medium … she’s part lab so she’s a perpetual puppy Fenced yard required?:   YES (no exceptions) … must be a physical fence. She needs a place to safely run and play off-leash to work off energy and she has a very high prey drive.  She will run off chasing deer, rabbits, squirrels ... the neighbor's cats ... etc.  Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk:  YES Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’ … she’s very smart and learns new things quickly Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES for the most part. She, like all dogs, must be slowly and properly introduced to new dogs. Social with cats:  NO CATS ... she has a high prey drive and will do harm to cats Good with children:  Children over 10.  Her size and energy might prove to be too much for younger children. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Shadow is about 2 years old, neutered, housetrained, current on healthcare, microchipped, crate trained and cute as a button.  At only 35 pounds, he loves to lay on your lap for a little while in the evening and he’s the perfect size for it.  He knows sit, paw, down (lay down) and is extremely well behaved in the house.  Will jump on and sleep on the sofa.  Shadow is GREAT with other dogs and lives with two female canines in his foster home.  He also lived with other dogs in his previous home.  (Three dogs from this household were surrendered to the shelter due to housing problems, which is a common theme these days.)    But, Shadow’s main focus will be YOU.  He loves human attention and will cover your face with kisses.  Always so eager to please, he hates when you must leave him.  For this reason, we recommend a very sturdy crate, such as the one shown in the photos. He has destroyed the latches on lesser crates.  Shadow eats his meals in his crate, gets a peanut butter Kong in there every afternoon, and sleeps in the crate through the night, where you will not hear a peep out of him.  In the morning, he will wait patiently to be let out.  He is not a very “barky” dog, but he will let you know when a visitor arrives or a strange animal is in the vicinity.   He loves to ride in the car and does not get carsick.    He will jump right in the car and we use a harness and seatbelt for his safety.  A fenced yard is preferred.     PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LuLuBelle: sweetest puppy ever? Her foster mom says she is naughty and not nice all the time, but smart as a whip! WIth smart dogs, the owner or foster mom has to be on the ball and think ahead, and that is not always easy with puppies. It's taken a while, but LuLuBelle has apparently mastered crate training as well as being 95% housetrained. There are so many things calling a puppy away from focusing on being good! To adopt seven month old LuLuBelle, spayed, and ready to roll into a home, apply online!     PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA.
