Story
Hello, my name is Luna! I was recently rescued from a shelter in Mexico after I was found in a field with my siblings; alone and hungry. I made the long journey to Canada and now I am settling in well with my foster family. I was very frightened and skittish when I first arrived but I quickly grew to trust my people and get comfortable with my new surroundings. I’ve regained my confidence now and I’m very loving and affectionate. I enjoy going for walks, I’m good on leash and I’m getting used to all the new things here like bikes, new people, new dogs and sudden surprises. If I do get suddenly spooked the biggest risk is that I’ll try to take off in a panic and run back home. Some dogs get aggressive when they are afraid, but not me… I’m very submissive and just try to avoid conflict. My foster family have a dog of their own, and we get along very well and don’t even fight over food or toys. I’m a mixed lab about 2 years old with lovely blonde fur. I’m spayed and all my shots are up to date, including rabies. My foster family have grown very fond of me, and were pleasantly surprised that I came fully house trained and haven’t caused any trouble or damage in the home. I even enjoy car rides. I’m ok sleeping in my crate at night, though of course I’m happiest if I’m close to my family. I’ll miss my foster parents when I find my forever home, and you’ll need to be patient with me for a month or so. But before long, I’ll be your trusted companion and never leave your side. Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Introducing the Aladdin Puppies! These adorable fluffies were born 3/28/2024 to a Labrador Retriever mix mama. Papa is unknown, mama doesn't know WHAT came over her, but... well... here we are. Luckily, with our Stop the Cycle program, mama gets spayed at no cost to her family, so these will be the only pups from her! Their beautiful fur is a bit longer than a typical Labrador, giving them a little extra floof. This whole litter blends together as one giant happy bubble of fun. They love everyone they meet, enjoy playing and following the humans at every possible opportunity. Behavior-wise, they are pretty interchangeable right now - as you can see in the video, it's just one mostly black wriggle of cuteness after another. We tell them apart using their microchip numbers! Aladdin stands out because he has white on his face and more white on his body - but he is just as wriggly and cute as the others. We expect all of these pups to do well with cats, other dogs, and children, and they should range from about 55# to 75# when full grown. The pups, along with their weights as of 5/13: ALADDIN: Black/white M, 11# GENIE: Mostly black F, 8.4# JASMINE: Mostly black F, 9.2# RAJA: Mostly black M, 10.8# JAFAR: Mostly black M, 11.2# ABU: Mostly black M, 10.4# Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be. They hope to have very few hours per day when they will be without the companionship of a human or other pet, and will reward their forever people with boundless love and loyalty! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
