Story
Have you met Onyx? This lovable boy was once abandoned, but rescued from a reservation 4 years ago! Now, he's in need of a new home as his current adopters face housing challenges. Can you provide a forever home? Onyx is a social pet who has lived harmoniously with other dogs and cats. While he's familiar with older kids, his compatibility with younger ones is unknown. Onyx is well-behaved and house-trained; however, his small bladder requires more frequent potty breaks. A true rez dog, he comes with his own set of quirks. Affectionately known as "The Weatherman", he's always checking the skies for storm clouds to determine his outside time. And when he is out, a secure fence is necessary to keep him from exploring the neighborhood. With an unknown history, there are hints of a difficult past. Loud sounds like thunder and fireworks frighten him, necessitating a sturdy crate or calming aids. If you're searching for a sweet boy who literally wears his heart on his chest, meet Onyx today! You can't help but love the guy! ##1095961##

Story
Meet Newt — Our Resilient Gentle Giant   Newt came to us from the reservation after showing up at a home with injuries consistent with a dog attack. Thankfully, a kind woman made sure he was safe and cared for, even when others nearby were not so compassionate. He’s since been seen by our vet, and the good news is his wounds are already healing well. He’s now on antibiotics to prevent infection, has been vaccinated and dewormed, tested heartworm negative, and is scheduled to be neutered.   And through all of it — Newt’s spirit has never dimmed.   At about 1½ years old and 80 pounds, Newt is a true gentle giant. He is incredibly sweet, food motivated, and takes treats with the softest mouth. He genuinely enjoys being around people and has done wonderfully with kids. He loves other dogs and shows curious, respectful interest in cats without aggression.   Newt walks nicely on leash and hasn't had any accidents in the house. For a young dog, he’s already got a fantastic foundation. He will benefit from continued basic training — especially to work on his counter surfing and trash-picking habits — but he’s eager to learn and responds well to food rewards.   Newt is the kind of dog who could have shut down after what he’s been through — instead, he chose to trust, love, and keep going. Now he just needs a home that will match that loyalty and heart.   If you’re looking for a big, kind soul with an even bigger heart, Newt is ready to meet you. ##2653324##
