The "Nutty" Litter: Small Pups, Big Hearts! If you’re looking to add a little extra flavor to your life, look no further than this handful of sweetness! Walnut, Pecan, and Almond are a trio of very sweet puppies who are currently out of their shells and ready to sprout in their forever homes. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2700927##

Story
Hi, I'm Merida! I'm Grand River's 4-year-old cutie. I'm a lab-shepherd mix with the funniest ears that stand up but aren't quite shepherd ears. Other dogs make me nervous so I will want to be your one and only dog in the home. When it's just me and my person though, I'm a great girl! I know how to sit and have pretty good leash manners already, plus one of the volunteers has learned that I'm very eager-to-please and pick up tricks rather quickly. I learned "focus" in under 30 minutes where I have to watch my person for a short period of time. Treats seem to motivate me more than toys do right now and I'm very polite while taking them. I'd like a calmer environment for my new home but wouldn't mind someone who has a lot of friends coming over, I always love new human friends. Just a reminder that I prefer to be the only four legged friend in your home! We do not see Adopt-a-Pet inquiries! Good with dogs,
Story
Well, hello there - Chase, at your service. I like to think of myself as a high-value investment: emotionally rich, exceptionally loyal, and always ready to deposit myself directly into your lap if you allow me too. Truly, if there were a competition for affection, I'd probably be one of the top producers. I am shy and nervous at first - it's a big world out there, lots of unfamiliar things - but the moment I found my person, I bond hard. Your space is my safe haven, my personal penthouse. I've got decent manners already (a well rounded portfolio, if I do say) and I would thrive in a quieter home in the beginning - somewhere I can learn to build my confidence with a steady routine and kind hands. But I do think I will blossom if I'm just given the chance. Kids are a little scary to me right now, but give me time, love, and some patience, and I swear I'll keep blossoming. All I really want is a family who is going to see me as one of their own at the end of the day. Another friendly dog in the home could be great to get me out of my shell, but not absolutely necessary. I may not come with cash, but I promise I am a very sound investment. We do not see Adopt-a-Pet inquiries! Please visit our website www.grandrivershumane.org to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our upcoming adoption event locations.

Story
This friendly, clever boy is ready to find a patient, loving home where he can truly shine. He may take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he’s all heart. He’d thrive with an experienced owner and older kids who understand going slow and using positive, fear free training. He’s a tennis ball enthusiast, treat motivated, and already knows some basic cues—perfect for someone excited to keep teaching him new things. His previous owner shared that he’s both potty trained and crate trained, which makes settling in even easier. He may also do well with a mellow dog friend. If you’re looking for a smart, sweet companion who just needs a gentle guide and a little patience, he might be the perfect match.
