Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.  Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | If you’re looking for a dog who is as striking as he is sweet, meet Badger! This handsome 2-year-old Labrador and Flat-Coated Retriever mix gets his name from his unique and beautiful markings that resemble his woodland namesake. With his sleek, dark coat and distinctive "badger" features, he is a true showstopper who turns heads wherever he goes. At two years old, Badger has officially moved past the frantic puppy stage and settled into being the ultimate companion. He is the definition of a "gentle giant"—a sweet, adoring boy who wants nothing more than to be your most loyal shadow. Whether you’re going for a brisk walk or settling in for a movie marathon, Badger is just happy to be by your side, offering a gentle nudge of his head to remind you he’s there.Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days. Personality | Sweet, curious, and friendly!Story | Badger traveled to Colorado from Arkansas to find his forever home! He was well-cared for by one of our partner rescues until he could head West!Other Dogs | Badger is happy to co-exist with other pups with occasional playful bursts. Cats | Badger has not been cat tested - he shows particular interest in squirrel management so he may feel inclined to pester a feline friend Children | He would do well with kind children, most likely any age. Training | He knows sit (he loves treats) and is working on other basic commands. He is potty-trained. Sleeps all night in his bed and doesn't get up until the whole family is up and moving! He is very redirectable and clearly wants to do the right thing. Leash | Badger pulls a bit on leash and loves some good sniffs. He really settles in once the walk gets going and is doing well on a collar. Activity Level | Low to moderate. One good walk in the morning and he's ready for hanging out. Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!January 15, 2026, 1:19 am
