Champion holds true to his name...champion of tennis balls! This fun, soft and loving guy would appreciate a home with a lot of love. He is a water dog and will happily play in our small doggy pool. He does well in an urban environment and does not mind noises, cars and busy streets. He is still working on his leash manners when passing other dogs but he is very eager to train and is very treat motivated. He rides well in the car. Come and meet Champion today!

Story
Mario is exactly what you’d expect from a young Lab… goofy, energetic, playful, and always ready for the next adventure.   This handsome 9-month-old Lab mix has a brand new lease on life and is now looking for a foster or forever home here in Colorado.   Mario loves toys, enjoys other dogs, and is always up for some fun. He walks pretty well on leash, though his excitement about the world can sometimes get the better of him. He’s still young, still learning, and would thrive with someone who understands the lovable chaos that comes with teenage Labs.   And when he’s happy to see you? Expect hugs, kisses, and absolutely no respect for personal space. Plus, he has the BEST ears, which somehow make him even more lovable.   Cats are a little unsettling for him, and kids can feel overwhelming at first, but once he settles in, his sweet and goofy personality really starts to come through.   Neutered Heartworm negative Dog friendly Ready for a fresh start   Mario is looking for someone who can give him guidance, consistency, and the chance to truly grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be.   Apply to foster or adopt at www.denkaisanctuary.org ##2742750##

Story
Meet Newt   Newt has been through a lot in his young life, but you'd never know it from the smile on his face and the wag of his tail. Originally rescued from the reservation after surviving what appeared to be a dog attack, this resilient boy has never stopped loving people.   At around 2 years old and 80 pounds, Newt is basically a giant puppy! He's a silly, goofy guy who hasn't quite figured out just how big and strong he is. He loves other dogs, has done well with kids, and approaches life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a healthy dose of chaos.   Like any oversized puppy, Newt is still a work in progress. He'll need continued training on his listening skills, some leash manners, and appropriate things to chew on when boredom strikes. The good news? He's food motivated, eager to learn, and has so much potential just waiting to be tapped into.   While Newt has done well with children, he's very tuned in to their energy and emotions. If a child is nervous or fearful around him, he tends to pick up on that uncertainty and respond to it. Combined with the fact that he doesn't always realize his own size and strength, we think he'd do best in a home with older, confident kids who can comfortably interact with a big, goofy puppy.   This sweet boy has been let down more than once, and we're determined that his next home will be his last.   Newt is looking for either a foster home or an adopter. If you can give this deserving goofball a chance, please submit an application at denkaisanctuary.org.   After everything he's been through, Newt deserves a family that will finally be forever. ##2653324##

Story
Jonas is a quirky guy and that’s exactly what makes him such a catch. This handsome boy has a lot of love to give; he’ll lean right into you for pets while eyeing that harness in your hand. On walks, he’s very dedicated to sniffing every bush, clearly catching up on all the neighborhood “news.” He can be a little shy at first, but it doesn’t take long to win him over with a few biscuits. Go on, take him home!

Story
Rory is a sweet, gentle girl looking for a forever home to call her own. She came to us as a stray, so we don't know much about her past, but she's already shown us what a wonderful companion she is. Rory knows basic commands, is eager to please, and is a smart girl who loves making her people happy. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly and has done well with men, women, and children. Her calm, gentle personality truly shines once she's out of her kennel. She enjoys spending time outdoors, walks beautifully on a leash, and has a quiet, easygoing nature that makes her a joy to be around. Rory also seems to do well with other dogs, making her a great candidate for a home with a canine companion. If you're looking for a loyal, loving best friend with a heart of gold, Rory just might be the perfect match. Come meet this sweet girl today!

Story
Note from a volunteer: Kayenta and I have been walking buddies ever since her arrival at LPCHS. She is a dog who knows her own mind, and often tells me where we're going to walk on any given day. She is the definition kindness and gentleness. She recently visited the kids at Park Elementary's summer camp program, and behaved like a champ. A little overwhelmed at first, but in her defense, it was a group of 40 excitable kids. I've never once seen Kayenta act aggressive towards people or other dogs. She genuinely cares and loves her fellow dog friends. She's not demanding of treats, and is pretty picky about what you have to offer, but I was able to find one bacon treat that she is quite fond of! Kayenta's favorite place for scratching is her hind quarters. Kayenta would be a terrific addition to any family. Come by and say hi, you won't be disappointed.
