Story
Nikki’s story is one of sadness and tragedy but also one of loyalty, love and a gentle spirit. Nikki arrived in rescue after her owner passed away. She was found by the local police department laying next to them, refusing to leave their side. Who knows how long she had been there. There were no family members to act as Nikki’s safety net so she ended up at the county shelter, confused and grieving. This is where we first met her. Nikki is above everything a study in love - giving it and receiving it. She is a shy but affectionate girl who thinks strangers are friends she hasn’t met yet. She loves to be petted and she loves to give affection, peppering g you with kisses before snuggling next to you. Nikki enjoys walks but she is also a wonderful couch buddy, calm and relaxed, always ready for a movie or a nap. She walks well on leash and has lived in a home all her life so she is very familiar with the household routine and everything it entails. If you adopt Nikki you will also be adopting her lamb chop toy. She adores it, choosing it above her other toys all of whom she adores and plays with gently. She is great with kids and seems to know they are littler people who need softer interaction. She is fun, playful and her smile will light up a room. Nikki really is the gem of a dog you have been seeking.

Hi there! I’m Scraggles, a scruffy 6-year-old Labrador and Patterdale Terrier mix who weighs about 60 pounds. I would love a home with a yard, even a small one, so we can play fetch together. Playing fetch is my greatest joy in life and Ill bring the ball right back to you for another round. I walk well on a leash, enjoy rolling in the grass for belly rubs, and I love treats. I am incredibly smart and eager to learn many new things. Even though I am athletic, I am a great balance of calm and playful. I am fully potty trained and keep my kennel very clean. I have many stuffed toys that I snuggle with in my kennel until I can find a human to snuggle with me. I usually prefer being friends with female dogs and just need a little time to get to know them, but a home as the only pet is the best fit for me. WATCH MY VIDEO...Adorable Dierks came from another shelter, so we don`t know his past, but it must have been good because he has the best demeanor! He`s so friendly and happy. He loves people, and he`s happy to meet anyone and everyone. He`s not shy at all. This social guy seems accepting of other dogs, but a dog meet is always recommended. He is an active pup, so a family who is willing to take him on long walks, and maybe to the dog park, is what he wishes for. He will need a little bit of work on leash training, but he`s smart. He`ll get it. He learns pretty quickly and he`ll be proud to show you sit and attention. Dierks went on a Dog`s Day Out with one of our amazing volunteers, and here`s what he had to say: Hi friends…Today I got to spend a few hours out of the shelter, soaking up attention, fresh air, and time with my person and it reminded me just how much I love being part of someone’s world. I walk nicely on leash (I may get a little distracted sometimes, but I’m easily redirected), I like toys, play gently, I’m silly, and love rolling on my back..but honestly... My favorite thing in the whole world is being close to my human. Sitting on your lap, curled next to you, face-to-face — that’s my love language. I even love selfies… because it means I get to snuggle right up with you. I ride well in the car (I’ll happily volunteer as your co-pilot up front), I’m treat motivated, and I’m ready to be someone’s perfect little companion. Couch time? Netflix and chill? I was made for that life. I’ve been getting overlooked… and that part is hard. I don’t want much, just a person to love, a couch to share, and a place where I don’t have to keep waiting. I lean in when people stop by, hoping this might be my turn. I watch them walk away, and I wonder when someone will finally choose me. If you’ve been looking for a loyal heart, a gentle companion, and a best friend who just wants to be close — I’m right here. Still hopeful. Still waiting. If you want a dog that will keep you active and smiling, you definitely want to come meet Dierks.

WATCH MY VIDEO... Shy little Noah is coming out of his shell. He came to us from Puerto Rico, so we don`t know his past, but his growth since he`s been with us warms our heart! He is so loving and friendly and is working on training. Because he loves treats, and takes them so nicely, training is easier. He`s learning more and more each day that he is loved and that learning is fun! He`s had successful playtime with other shelter dogs to help socialize him and let some of that energy out. This is one special dog who will be so grateful to have a forever family, that he will flourish and bring his family happiness every day!
